“I love you bigger than the whole sky,” Poor Things star Emma Stone proclaimed in her acceptance speech for Best Actress.

She absolutely dazzled as Bella Baxter in Yorgos Lanthimos’s gothic comedy, Poor Things, which received a whopping 11 Academy Award nominations this year – so nobody was surprised when Emma Stone walked away with the gong for Best Actress.

Nobody, that is, save for Stone herself.

“My voice is also a little gone. The other night, I was panicking – as you can kind of see, it happens a lot – that maybe something like this could happen,” said the now two-time Oscar winner from the podium.

“And Yorgos said to me, ‘Please take yourself out of it.’ And he was right, because it’s not about me. It’s about a team that came together to make something greater than the sum of its parts. And that is the best part about making movies. It’s all of us together.”

Watch Emma Stone’s speech at the 2024 Oscars below:

“I am so deeply honoured to share this with every cast member, with every crew member, with every single person who poured their love and their care and their brilliance into the making of this film,” Stone continued, after acknowledging that her Louis Vuitton dress had split in the back (“I think it happened during ‘I’m Just Ken,’” she quipped).

Stone then thanked her family, including her parents, her brother, and her husband Dave McCary.

“I know I have to wrap up, but I really want to just thank my family, my mom, my brother Spencer, my dad, my husband Dave, I love you so much,” she said emotionally. “And most importantly, my daughter, who’s going to be 3 in three days and has turned our lives technicolor. I love you bigger than the whole sky, my girl.”

Finally, the talented actor paid tribute to her fellow nominees: Annette Bening, Lily Gladstone, Sandra Hüller and Carey Mulligan.

“The women in this category—Sandra, Annette, Carey, Lily, I share this with you,” she said. “I am in awe of you. It has been such an honour to be able to do all this together.”

All hail Emma Stone!
