Food is not just fuel. I’ve been looking into my Scottish ancestry and at the same time all I want to eat is mashed potato. The more I dig into my heritage and this Celtic link between potatoes and survival, the more I think our connection to certain foods runs deeper than we can imagine.

Enough of this pressure to ‘make memories’. It’s unbearable how much people need everything to be a ‘moment’. Nothing ruins a holiday like having to watch the sunset in this exact spot with this exact cocktail so we can say we had a magical time. Last Christmas I went to Kenya without my phone and it was great; you’ll just have to take my word for it.
