Halloween 2024: 15 of the best celebrity costumes, from Janelle Monae to Heidi Klum

This year, the best celeb Halloween outfits included ET, Princess Diana, Challengers and Jessica Rabbit.
Well, it’s that time of year again – the time when our favourite celebs go all out on wild, ridiculous costumes in the name of Halloween.
This year, we’ve been treated to dozens of looks that are already nothing short of iconic. A few celebrities dressed as legendary characters from film and TV, while others paid homage to their favourite celebrities. Then there were those who went the comedic route and, in one case, dressed as a human-sized packet of Monster Munch.
So, without further ado, let’s take a look at some of the best-dressed celebs this Halloween.
Elsa Hosk as Princess Diana
“Wishing you an iconic Halloween,” model Elsa Hosk wrote while recreating Princess Diana’s black ‘revenge dress’, complete with pearl choker.
Sabrina Carpenter as Sandy
While on her Short ’n’ Sweet tour of the US, singer Sabrina Carpenter took to the stage in a number of outfits, channelling Olivia Newton-John’s Sandy (from Grease) and a Playboy bunny.
Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco as Alice in Wonderland and The Mad Hatter
“Curiouser and curiouser,” is how Selena Gomez captioned the shot of her and boyfriend, Benny Blanco, in costumes inspired by Tim Burton’s Alice’s Adventures In Wonderland.
Anne Hathaway as Boo York City
In a simple yet effective costume, Anne Hathaway put a scary twist on the Statue of Liberty with face paint, a blonde wig and dark glasses.
Kerry Washington, Scott Foley and Tony Goldwyn as Challengers
Scandal gave us one of the most legendary on-screen love triangles between Kerry Washington’s Olivia Pope, Tony Goldwyn’s President Fitzgerald Grant and Scott Foley’s Jake Ballard. So it’s only fitting that the stars paid homage to Challengers, the Zendaya film that’s had everyone talking in 2024.
Janelle Monáe as ET
In what is one of the most life-like Halloween costumes we’ve ever seen, singer and actor Janelle Monáe went above and beyond with their costume – going head to toe in prosthetics to bring beloved 80s film alien ET to life. Monae captioned this impressive look: “You came back, 42 years later. Welcome back E.T. Thank you Google Maps.”
Maya Jama as Beetlejuice
Inspired by one of the biggest films of the year in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, Maya Jama gave black and white stripes a high fashion edge as “Beetlejuice’s unruly niece”.
Heidi Klum as ET
Heidi Klum showed the world once again that she truly is the Queen of Halloween. Dressing up as a worm in 2022 and peacock in 2023, she set the bar high for this year’s costume. It did not disappoint: Klum went all out as female ET, alongside her husband.
Sophie Turner as Trinity
“Red or blue pill?” asked Sophie Turner while dressed as Trinity from The Matrix, complete with sunglasses and a black jumpsuit.
Paris Hilton as Mia Wallace
Inspired by Uma Thurman’s Pulp Fiction character, Hilton donned a black bob wig and recreated the famous movie poster. But one outfit just wasn’t enough: she also recreated Britney Spears’s Baby One More Time music video with a schoolgirl outfit and pigtails.
Chlöe Bailey as Jessica Rabbit
This year, singer Chlöe Bailey channelled Jessica Rabbit with an epic costume featuring a floor-length red sequin dress and matching red wig. “I present to you… Jessica Rabbit,” she wrote in an Instagram post.
Keke Palmer as Cersei Lannister
Nope’s Keke Palmer really went all out with her Halloween costume again this year. The actor recreated the Iron Throne and embodied Game of Thrones’s Cersei Lannister, asking her followers to “bend the knee”.
Victoria Justice as Coraline
Victoria Justice paid homage to what’s truly one of the creepiest animated films around, Coraline.
Amelia Dimoldenberg as Roz from Monsters Inc
You probably know Amelia Dimoldenberg from her YouTube interview show Chicken Shop Date or from her red-carpet interviews (especially the flirty ones with Andrew Garfield). For Halloween, she was practically unrecognisable as Roz, the key master and administrator for Scare Floor F in the Monsters Inc films. We’re impressed – and honestly, a little bit freaked out.
Katherine Ryan as a Giant Monster Munch
Following on from her iconic 2023 giant Wotsit costume, comedian Katherine Ryan was inspired by a different crisp this year – Monster Munch. “I loved looking like an absolute snack last year for Halloween, and it left the people hungry for more. Now it’s crunch time,” she wrote.
