The four contestants, including Ted Lasso star Kola Bokinni, will travel down South America from Brazil to southern Chile.

The BBC’s Race Across the World is undoubtedly one of the most uplifting shows on television, and we’ve just about recovered from Alfie and Owen’s epic win that saw contestants race from the northernmost point in Japan to the Indonesian paradise island of Lombok.

And just as series four of the ‘normal’ race ends, the BBC has announced a second series of the celebrity spin-off.

In season one, we saw weather presenter Alex Beresford and his dad, Noel, win (beating McFly’s Harry Judd and his mum by four minutes).

The first season saw four celeb duos travel from Morocco up to the Arctic. This included winners Alex and Noel; McFly’s Harry Judd and his mum, Emma; All Saints’s Melanie Blatt and her mum, Helene; and racing driver Billy Monger and his sister Bonny.

Unfortunately, while being in the lead for the first time, Billy and Bonny had to unexpectedly leave the show due to a family emergency back at home.

Where is the new celebrity season of Race Across The World set?

This time four celebrities and their partners will begin in Belém in the north of Brazil and the gateway to the Amazon rainforest and pass through five checkpoints across the length of South America until they reach the Andes in southern Chile.

The four duos competing are BBC Radio 2 DJ Scott Mills and his husband, Sam Vaughan (then fiancé); broadcaster Kelly Brook and her husband, Jeremy Parisi; TV presenter Jeff Brazier and his son Freddie; and Ted Lasso actor Kola Bokinni and his cousin Mary Ellen.

When can I watch the new celebrity season of Race Across The World?

The new series will start on BBC One and BBC iPlayer from 9pm on Wednesday 14 August 2024.
