London’s West End offers a veritable treasure trove of shows for the discerning theatre-goer and newbies alike. You just need to know where to look…
We love a good theatre show here at Stylist, but even we find the choice a bit overwhelming at times.
After all, the West End is positively packed with amazing shows, leaving us very much spoiled for choice, but our pockets aren’t deep enough to go see everything on offer.
So if you need a bit of help narrowing down your choices, here’s a selection of new and exciting shows that are debuting this year.
Opening Night
Sheridan Smith is returning to the stage to star in Opening Night, a new musical with music and lyrics by Rufus Wainwright based on a 1977 American psychological drama movie of the same name about a theatre production trying to put on the show of their lives as the leading lady endures a tragedy.
Mean Girls The Musical
Yes, at long last, Mean Girls The Musical is coming to London. It’s going to be so fetch…
The Devil Wears Prada
Speaking of musical adaptations of iconic films, The Devil Wears Prada is also hitting the West End this year, with songs from none other than Elton John. Gird your loins!
Running from 24 October – 31 May 2025 at the Dominion Theatre
Hadestown
If you’re a fan of Greek mythology, you’ll want to be seated for this Tony Award-winning show – it’s based on the myths of Orpheus and Eurydice, and Hades and Persephone.
Long Day's Journey Into Night
After starring in one of the most successful TV shows of the 21st century so far, Brian Cox is coming back to the West End to appear in Eugene O’Neill’s Pulitzer-winning play about a dysfunctional family trying to get to grips with the reality of each other.
Player Kings
Icon of stage and screen Ian McKellen is starring as Falstaff in a new version of Shakespeare’s Henry IV, adapted by Olivier Award-winner Robert Icke. You’ll want to get tickets sharpish – this is not one to be missed.
The Picture Of Dorian Gray
Another Succession alum Sarah Snook is taking to the West End stage in The Picture Of Dorian Gray, in which she’ll play all 26 characters.
An Enemy Of The People
Matt Smith is hitting the stage for the first time since 2019 to star in Thomas Ostermeier’s contemporary rendition of Henrik Ibsen’s classic play about a doctor who must decide between what is ethically right and what his community needs.

Plaza Suite
A 60s romcom? Starring Sarah Jessica Parker and her IRL husband Matthew Broderick? In SJP’s West End debut? We’re so there.
