JK Rowling humiliates Piers Morgan after he falls headfirst into her Twitter trap

In case you hadn’t noticed by now, JK Rowling and Piers Morgan really don’t get on. At all.

Just last week, the pair began exchanging insults on social media – which led to a frustrated Morgan claiming that he had never read a single Harry Potter book. And now, in what appears to be the knockout blow to their online spat, Rowling has exposed the Good Morning Britain presenter as a liar.

The best-selling author tweeted a screengrab of an article which sings her praises, insisting that her inspiring books have had a huge impact on the world.

“Just been sent this,” wrote Rowling. “Could the writer let me know who he is? I’d love to thank him.”

Within moments, Piers Morgan – despite not being tagged in the tweet – spotted her remarks, and felt compelled to comment.

“Priceless #humblebrag BS,” he wrote scathingly. “Nobody plays the celebrity game more abusively or ruthlessly than you. Ms ‘Intensely Private Billionaire’.”

Unfortunately for Morgan, however, he had fallen right into Rowling’s trap. Because, somewhat awkwardly, he was the author of the complementary article.

Talk about making a right Rita Skeeter out of yourself, eh?

It wasn’t long before Morgan found himself the butt of almost every single joke on Twitter, with Harry Potter fans tuning in from far and wide to poke fun at his discomfort.

“Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god. He doesn’t realise. This is the best day of my life,” wrote one Twitter user.

Attempting to reclaim his dignity, Morgan decided to respond to the online mockery.

“Relax, quarter-wit, I knew what it was,” he tweeted. “Just surprised I put her as high as 97th,” he tweeted.

Hmm.

Rowling and Morgan’s argument first kicked off when the former journalist appeared on Real Time with Bill Maher to defend the impact of Trump’s presidency.

During the show, the Good Morning Britain presenter refused to refer to Trump’s recent travel ruling as a “Muslim ban”, leading to a bitter exchange with Australian comedian Jim Jefferies.

In the end, Jefferies became so frustrated that he told Morgan to “f**k off”.

And naturally Rowling – who’s made no secret of her distaste for Trump’s travel ban – was delighted.

“Yes, watching Piers Morgan being told to f**k off on live TV is exactly as satisfying as I’d always imagined,” she tweeted, linking her 9.5 million followers to an online clip of the show.

Morgan immediately retaliated – and the pair launched into an embittered war of words.

However the argument seemingly came to an end when Rowling informed Morgan that his sycophantic attitude to Trump would, ultimately, prove his own downfall.

“If you’d only read Harry Potter, you’d know that the downside of sucking up to the biggest bully in school is getting burned alive,” she said.
