Ever dreamed of leaving your District and entering the Hunger Games?
Well, may the odds ever be in your favour, because a theme park based on Suzanne Collins’ dystopian books is officially in the works. And, if sparkly vampires are more your thing, then you’re in luck: Twilight is getting the roller-coaster treatment, too.

That’s right: it may be five years since the film adaptations of Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight Saga came to an end (and four years respectively for The Hunger Games trilogy), but the public’s fascination with the tales has never waned.
From an Edward versus Jacob love-feud taking hold of young fans everywhere, to the character of Katniss Everdeen (played by Jennifer Lawrence) becoming our new all-empowering female hero, both book franchises have accumulated a league of fans the world over.
So, with news of an actual theme park dedicated to the franchises becoming a reality, is it any wonder that we’re reaching for our box sets and books once more?

Making the announcement on Tuesday 15 August, Lionsgate (the company behind the films) released details of the impending Lionsgate Movie World.
The studio CEO, Jon Feltheimer, said: “We’re pleased to partner with our friends at Landing International, one of Asia's premier developers, on our first branded outdoor theme park and one of our largest and most exciting location-based entertainment destinations.”
Consisting of seven themed ‘zones’ – which also include the upcoming remake of Robin Hood: Origins and the well-received Now You See Me – the 1.3 million-square-foot theme park is dedicated to bringing the biggest Lionsgate films to life.
Basically, it’s going to be a lot like Univerdal Studios and Walt Disney World – but with more vampires and bloody battles to the death.
According to the press release, guests will be able to “experience actual movie scenes,” as well as various other experiences.
“Visitors can experience actual movie scenes through state-of-the-art rides, attractions and 4D Intellectual Property (IP) reproduced streets and towns. Each zone will also feature themed restaurants, cafes, souvenir shops and entertainment performances,” the press release promises.
There’s just one catch: you’ll need to buy a plane ticket to visit the park, as it’s located in South Korea’s Jeju Shinhwa World, a resort based in the country’s Jeju Island.
However you have plenty of time to save up for your flight, as the park won’t be opening in 2019.
We don’t know about you, but we’re imagining hovercraft tours of Panem and re-enacting the ‘you better hold on tight, spider monkey’ scene from Twilight.
Let the games begin…
