The digital music giant has teamed up with Pat McGrath Labs and Maggie Lindemann to give users the ability to purchase make-up
If you thought Spotify was just for listening to music, it’s time to think again.
This week, the digital music giant made its first move into unexpected new territory – selling beauty products.
Teaming up with legendary make-up artist Pat McGrath, Spotify has launched a venture called “So Obsessed” – a campaign featuring emerging artist Maggie Lindemann, who has collaborated with McGrath to feature McGrath’s line of products in her latest music video.
The campaign is the first of its kind, and allows fans to instantly purchase products from the video on Lindemann’s Spotify artist page.
“In this digitally-empowered, digital era of make-up, where fans crave instant glamour gratification I always want to reach fans where they’re most engaged,” said McGrath in a statement. “That’s why this relationship with Spotify is absolutely major, because it merges beauty and music in a whole new way, that’s never been done before. I’m thrilled to see it finally come to life.”
The new service is the latest development in Spotify’s partnership with Merchbar – a company that Spotify started working with last year to start selling artists’ merchandise on their profile pages.
