From the foundation I apply in my hotel room to the mist I pack in my clutch, here’s my tried and tested wedding guest make-up routine…
Wedding season is well and truly upon us. And as someone who’s attended five weddings in the last two months, I’m well versed on the ultimate long-lasting make-up routine that’ll stay in place from the vows until the venue closes.
Because whether you’ve got a wedding abroad (been there) or are battling a 30ºC heatwave (done that), ensuring your make-up lasts all day and all night long isn’t always an easy feat.
So, from the primer to kick things off with to the clutch-bag essentials to keep on hand throughout the day, here are my tried and tested wedding guest make-up must-haves…

Waterproof mascara: Maybelline Colossal Curl Bounce Waterproof Mascara
I’m not normally someone who wears waterproof mascara (removing it is a pain – I’m a fan of tubing mascaras) but when it comes to weddings, waterproof is a must. This one from Maybelline is brilliant. It adds fluffy volume, lengthens and lifts – but won’t flake, smudge or smear, even if the tears start.

Primer: Charlotte Tilbury Invisible UV Flawless Poreless Primer SPF50
The key to a long-lasting make-up look all begins with the prep. I’m a big fan of this primer, as not only does it smooth away the look of imperfections and help your foundation stay in place for hours on end, but it also contains SPF50 – win-win.

Skincare-infused foundation: Lancôme Teint Idôle Ultra Wear Foundation
For foundation, I’m all about the glow – especially when you want your make-up to go the distance. This lightweight foundation is infused with a 98% skincare serum base, meaning it gives your skin long-lasting hydration together with buildable coverage. It won’t look cakey or drying, no matter how hot and sticky the night gets.

Long-lasting blusher: Lumene Invisible Illumination Liquid Blush
This is a recent discovery of mine that I’ve been loving this wedding season. It’s a lightweight serum blush that also doubles as a highlighter on your cheekbones. Add a couple of drops to the apples of your cheekbones and temples for a natural-looking flush of colour that’ll last and last.

Easy eye make-up: Victoria Beckham Satin Kajal Liner
Victoria Beckham Beauty is one of the few celebrity beauty brands I really rate, and these satin kajal eyeliners are perfect if you want an easy eye win. They’re buttery smooth and can be smudged out to give a soft smoky eye look, but once they’ve dried – they’ll last all night long. Available in 18 shades – from rich jewel tones to vibrant electric hues.
Long-lasting eye palette: Vieve Soul Shadows
For eyeshadow, this Vieve palette has been my go-to throughout each and every wedding. The colours blend together seamlessly, giving a really professional-looking finish and the colour payoff lasts all night long. In fact, a bridal make-up artist spotted me using this and proceeded to buy it for her kit!
Perfecting powder: Jones Road Tinted Face Powder
As I tend to embrace glowy skin, I’m not really one for face powder, but one thing I’ve learned this wedding season is that a perfecting powder is a must in order to keep your make-up looking picture-perfect all night long. This finely milled Jones Road one is perfect for setting your look in place, without dulling your shine.

SPF: Ultra Violette Preen Screen SPF50 Reapplication Mist
If you take one thing in your clutch bag this wedding season, let it be this reapplication SPF mist. Not only does it top-up your SPF throughout the day – but it gives you a refreshing hit of hydration when you’re feeling the heat. I’ve taken it to every wedding I’ve been to and it’s been a big hit among all my friends. Plus, there’s still loads left, so it goes a long way.

Tinted lip balm: Iconic London Melting Touch Lip Balm
I personally much prefer a tinted balm over a lipstick when I’m topping up throughout the day, and this Iconic London one is perfect. It gives your lips a hint of sheer colour while drenching them in a buttery-soft shine. Oh, and it doesn’t go dry in the corners of your mouth like some can.
Concealer-foundation hybrid: Monika Blunder Blunder Cover
Instead of taking tons of face make-up with me during the day, I pop Monika Blunder’s Blunder Cover in my bag and I’m good to go. This trusty little pot is a hybrid between a concealer and foundation – and it’s perfect for touching up throughout the day if you need to.
