When it comes to fragrance, there’s no denying that certain scents become the ‘it’ perfumes of the moment. Think Le Labo’s Santal 33,  a scent so ubiquitous that you can instantly recognise it in any Soho House, Byredo’s Gypsy Water, the celebrity cool girl fragrance, or Maison Francis Kurkdjian’s Baccarat Rouge 540,  the latest TikTok-viral ‘smells expensive’ scent.

As a beauty journalist who tries nearly every perfume that’s new-to-market, it’s rare that I find myself wearing the same fragrance as someone else, purely because I mix and match new fragrances so much. But that’s exactly what happened on a recent work trip, where I realised that every journalist in attendance had packed the same Victoria Beckham Beauty perfume.

While catching a cab from the airport to hotel, I realised that the beauty director next to me smelt… exactly like me. A mixture of heady leather, suede, black cherry and rose which smells both sexy and professional. After discovering that we were both wearing Suite 302, the third journalist in attendance also admitted that she too had packed only one fragrance for the trip – and it was Suite 302.

As beauty journalists, we’ve each sampled hundreds – if not thousands – of perfumes. So I find it remarkable that we had all coincidentally packed the same scent, especially from a beauty brand that’s not known for its fragrances.

The moral of the story? I’m here to predict that Victoria Beckham Beauty’s Suite 302 is going to be the next cult fragrance. If you’re intrigued, here’s what it smells like…
