Constantly evolving, redefining and above all iconic, Kylie’s chameleonic approach to hair reminds us that a change is always better than a rest. We take a look at the princess of pop’s hair history, and take down a few notes of our own.
1987
Pseudo-mullet, fresh faced girl next door Kylie was already taking beauty risks at the tender age of 19. Little did she know it was the first of the many great hairstyles she’d sport.
1988
Our girl grows up with big hair, gallons of attitude and siren-red lips.
1989
Baby-faced and carefree, Kylie ditches the overly-coiffured look in favour of relaxed waves and worn-in highlights.
1990
Who didn't wear a groovy black headband in the early '90s? Maybe it's time they had a comeback...
1991
The grunge era didn't pass by the pop-starlet. She let her hair down, coaxed those beautiful waves to perfection and went au natural.
1992
Watch out, it's the attack of the giant, frizzy haired creature of doom. No, wait. It’s just Kylie in her in-betweeny ‘growing out my hair’ phase. Don't laugh, we've all had them.
1993
As if more proof were needed, the difference a good blow-dry can make is unfathomable.
1994
Warm highlights and a retro flick at the bottom - this is one of our favourite Kylie 'dos as it's fun and feminine without looking too 'done'.
1995
Ah, the mid '90s, when the pop princess experimented with a more 'alternative' style. We loved the vampy red colour and flirtatious, eye-skimming fringe Kylie sported in 1995, but it wasn't long before she tried an even more dramatic look...
1996
This gamine crop, which showed off Kylie's delicate bone structure and exquisite features beautifully. This was a strikingly different look for Kylie and it wasn't long before she grew out the extreme cut into a longer style.
1997
A playful smile and fringe make sure this updo is not too strict for the ever-bubbly Kylie.
1998
Sporting a short bob, fresh-faced Kylie proves she still has the same girl next door appeal she had when she first started.
1999
Sleek and lucious long brown locks were all the rage in the 1990s. Celebrities all around the globe sported the care-free hairstyle, including Kylie.
2000
Big bouncy curls and sophisticated red lips - Kylie is sexy and she knows it!
2001
The low ponytail and side parting showcase a different side of Kylie. With a home range, perfumes and a underwear line, she has quickly became a real business woman and she sure looks the part.
2002
Kylie was already rocking the futuristic stage look, complete with sparkly bra top and choker necklace, long before Gaga ever put her first pair of hotpants on. Beat that, Fame Monster!
2003
Year after year, Kylie knows she can always rely on a good blow-dry.
2004
Kylie wore this playful updo to the NRJ music awards in 2004. The thrown-together side bun was perfect for a night of fun and music on the French Riviera.
2005
Kylie went back to her roots with this updated version of her 80s curly do. Thankfully, it is more boho-chic than poodle this time around.
2006
After undergoing treatment for breast cancer, Kylie returned to the public eye looking as beautiful as ever with a short, curly blonde crop.
2007
We absolutely love how Kylie turned the potentially awkward "I am growing my hair out" phase into something fun and stylish.
2008
We like to think of this as Kylie's 21st century take on a flapper girl's bob - we love the touseled curls and golden colour on her.
2009
There's nothing like glamorous bouncy curls to take a simple outfit and make-up to the next level.
2010
The soft blonde layers are not without reminding us of 60s fashion icon Brigitte Bardot. Just like the Australian star, B.B. had also tried her hand at music. Needless to say, one did much better than the other.
2011
After trying peroxide blonde, sunkissed honey, and firery red hair, Kylie eventually gave the dark brown look a go in 2011. We absolutely love how the darker colour makes her ice blue eyes stand out.
