Make-up artist and vlogger Michelle Phan has created the most popular beauty tutorial YouTube video ever, amassing a staggering 57 million views for her Barbie make-up how-to.
Despite the fact that it was shot and uploaded in 2009, the video has continued to be popular among viewers on the social networking site, and has been watched by the equivalent of the population of England.
In her video, which produces a more extreme look than some of us would opt for, Michelle offers advice such as using a stippling brush to ensure there is full coverage of foundation across the face to give it that 'plastic look'.
She also mentions that Barbie has a small nose so it's important to contour your face to make it look like the iconic doll's.
She even shows you how to ensure you get 'perfect, doll-like' lips but using a hard brush and drawing concealer on your lips' edges so that you get a pout worthy of Babs.
The beauty guru, who started uploading videos in 2007, has gained a massive 7 million subscribers to her YouTube channel, and clearly this video is immensely popular with the make-up blogging community.
Her Lady Gaga Bad Romance and Poker Face tutorial videos have also become extremely popular, garnering over 47 and 34 million respectively.
Speaking to WWD.com, Lisa Green, Google's head of industry, luxury and apparel said that one of the reasons why Michelle is so popular is that she takes advantage trends, such as Halloween and that's what keeps people coming back.
“She has all these Halloween videos up that aren’t even new. She is resurfacing content because she knows what people are looking for.”
Research from the search engine also showed that from “2012 to 2013, Halloween makeup content increased more than four fold, with Halloween videos comprising 57 percent of seasonal makeup tutorial views as of August”.
But we'll leave you with the mind-blowing fact that videos with “makeup tutorial” in the title have been watched on YouTube more than 2.4 billion times.
That's 28% of the WHOLE WORLD.
