As more and more of us continue to invest in our skincare regimes, brands are responding by creating hardworking, innovative formulations. Case in point: Dior Beauty’s Dior Capture.

Drawing on more than 40 years of skin science, Dior Capture is a reinvention of its popular Capture Totale, which initially launched in 1986. When considering its formulations, Dior Beauty collaborated with its long-standing partner, CiRA (the Centre for iPS Cell Research and Application at Kyoto University), to explore the ways in which our skin changes as we grow older.

In their research, Dior Beauty and CiRA found that oxygen is an important part of the skin’s metabolism and plays a part in the production of collagen fibres. Additionally, cellular respiration – in both the epidermis and dermis – becomes compromised from the age of 20. In fact, they found that it decreases by 40% between the ages of 25 and 90, and this has an impact on the skin’s ability to regenerate itself.

They also found that reduced cellular respiration has an impact on the vitality and youthfulness of skin tissue. We have cells that synthesise native collagen, known as fibroblasts. Their respiration decreases by 37% and their energy decreases by 28% between the ages of 20 and 40.

This is where Dior Beauty steps in. Homing in on the importance of oxygen and healthy skin, its researchers explored regenerative medicine that uses oxygen transport to not only maximise its impact on skin but to do so without oxidative effects. This led to the creation of its new technology, OX-C [oxygeno-collage] treatment, a brilliant addition to the Dior Capture range. Which, by the way, is fronted by none other than Charlize Theron.

The range comes in the form of two incredible products: Le Sérum and La Creme. The first utilises a breakthrough innovation by using a diffusing exo-liposome. This works hard to leave skin smoother, firmer and more radiant.

You can then follow up with La Creme, an enriched, nourishing formula that contains a patented duo of hyaluronic acids to allow for deep hydration. Once on, skin will feel plumper, and the skin barrier will be strengthened, meaning it’s less prone to irritation.

Studies also found that the addition of OX-C treatment helped to increase cellular respiration by 57%, accelerate epidermal regeneration by 22% and boost dermal regeneration by 42%.
