In 2024, we’re making sure our best skincare isn’t just reserved for the face.
Our bodies need love too, and there’s a big trend towards ‘body care’ at the moment, which takes everything we know about how to care for our faces and applies it to the rest of our skin as well.

What can peptide body care help with?
Dr Ifeoma Ejikeme, a skin expert and medical director/founder of Adonia Medical Clinic, tells Stylist: “Peptides can help improve skin firmness and elasticity by promoting collagen synthesis, which is crucial for maintaining skin structure and resilience. Certain peptides, such as palmitoyl tripeptide-5, can help enhance skin hydration by supporting the skin’s natural moisture barrier. And peptides like oligopeptide-34 may aid in reducing the appearance of dark spots and uneven skin tone by regulating melanin production.”
How long can it take for products containing peptides to work?
Dr Ejikeme, who was commended in the Best Aesthetic Practitioner 2024 category at the Aesthetic Awards, says: “The effectiveness of peptide-containing products can vary depending on factors such as the formulation, concentration of peptides, individual skin type and the specific concern being addressed. Generally, noticeable improvements may be observed within a few weeks to a couple of months of consistent use. However, for significant results, it’s important to maintain a regular skincare routine and be patient as the skin undergoes its natural renewal process.”
What sorts of body care products should people look for that contain peptides?
“When selecting skincare products containing peptides,” Dr Ejikeme says, “individuals should look for formulations tailored to their specific skin concerns.”
Some common products include:
- Serums: “Peptide serums are lightweight and easily absorbable, making them suitable for targeting specific problem areas or layering beneath moisturisers.”
- Moisturisers: “Peptide-infused moisturisers offer hydration while delivering the benefits of peptides to the skin’s surface, promoting overall skin health and resilience.”
