From the old classics to the newbies on the block, these are the skincare brands our senior beauty writer reaches for on a daily basis.

I like to keep my skincare routine streamlined. Thanks to my rosacea, overloading my skin with products always ends up wreaking havoc and causing more problems than I was trying to solve.

However, with so many buzzy new skincare brands making waves, it can be hard to strike a balance when factoring in the go-to brands I’ve been loyally using for years.

Lately, I feel like I’ve got to grips with my skin’s temperamental needs and sussed out my skincare routine, which is when I noticed there’s a pattern among the brands that keep cropping up.

Here, I’ve listed the brands I constantly reach for to tackle everything from blemishes to calming my sensitivity that have become my holy grail skincare saviours.

The skincare brands I recommend

SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic Vitamin C Serum

SkinCeuticals

Experts consistently recommend SkinCeuticals and I’ve been using its iconic C E Ferulic Vitamin C Serum since I started in journalism and can say that it’s definitely worth the investment.

Not only is this one of the few vitamin C serums that don’t cause me any sensitivity, but it’s glass skin in a bottle. The Hyaluronic Acid Intensifier Multi-Glycan and Phyto Corrective Hyaluronic Acid Serum Gel have become staples in my routine, too.

Murad Cellular Hydration Barrier Repair Cream

Murad

Whenever my skin is acting up, whether with sensitivity or breakouts, Murad is the brand I reach for. This buttery lotion calms skin in an instant. Applied before bed, it leaves me waking up to moisturised, calm skin – the best base for make-up a girl could ask for.

I switch to the brand’s Clarifying Water Gel in the summer when my skin is greasier and more breakout-prone, while its newest launch, the Sensitive Skin Heartleaf Gentle Resurfacing Serum, has become a recent addition to my routine for calming skin and leaving it silky smooth.

La Roche-Posay Cicaplast B5 Face Serum for Dehydrated Skin

La Roche-Posay

The French pharmacy brand is beloved by dermatologists, and it’s easy to see why. You’ll have seen La Roche-Posay’s Cicaplast range everywhere, and while its Cicaplast Baume is a great moisturiser, it’s the Cicaplast B5 Face Serum that won me over. Packed with glycerin and vitamin B5, which is a humectant, this soothes and hydrates parched skin in a flash.

The Toleriane Sensitive Cream Face Moisturiser for Sensitive Skin is my go-to everyday moisturiser and is perfect for travel, while the MelaB3 Serum Intense Anti-Dark Spot Serum for Hyperpigmentation is packed with niacinamide to leave my skin glossy and more even-toned.

Beauty Pie Superdrops Brightening Niacinamide

Beauty Pie

Becoming a Beauty Pie member means you get hard-working skincare solutions for an incredibly affordable price. Let me tell you, they’re some of the best product formulas I’ve tried. I’ve gone through countless bottles of the Superdrops serum. Packed with niacinamide and evermat (a pore-minimising ingredient), this always helps cut down my monthly hormonal breakouts.

The Triple Hyaluronic Acid Deep Moisture Miracle Cream is softening and ultra-hydrating, while the Happy Face 10% Azelaic Acid Skin-Clearing Gel-Cream is something I reach for to help tackle a rosacea flare-up.

Rhode Glazing Milk

Rhode

I was sceptical, but Hailey Bieber’s skincare brand has won me over with its peptide-packed, gentle formulas. While I wouldn’t recommend it for anyone struggling with a skin condition (the products aren’t geared up for that, nor do they claim to be), the range is a great all-rounder if you’re just looking to add some major glow.

The Glazing Milk is lightweight but doesn’t skimp on hydration, delivering dewy skin in minutes. The Barrier Butter balm filled with moisturising polyglutamic and hyaluronic acid saved my skin this winter. The sell-out Peptide Glazing Fluid is undeniably worth the hype for glossy skin, too.

Ren Clean Skincare Redness Relief Serum

Ren Clean Skincare

I’ve been using Ren Clean Skincare products since my late teens, and a decade on, they still have a prominent place in my bathroom cabinet. I’ve never found a redness relief serum quite as soothing and comforting as the Redness Relief Serum – it’s like a comfort blanket in a glass bottle.

The Perfect Canvas Clean Jelly Oil Cleanser is a pro at melting away make-up without irritating skin or leaving it feeling tight or dry, while the jelly-like Everhydrate Marine Moisture-Restore Serum uses hyaluronic acid and algaes to draw moisture to the skin.

Caudalie Premier Cru The Serum

Caudalie

Caudalie is another brand I rate for gentle, sensitive-skin-friendly formulas that don’t compromise on efficacy. The newest Premier Cru range has been a gem for my dry skin, but the serum is my favourite for being lightweight yet moisturising.

The VinoHydra Deep Hydration Moisturiser is always a hero for when I’ve got scaly skin or dry patches, while the Vinopure Blemish Control Salicylic Serum perfectly balances out oiliness without leaving the skin feeling stripped.

Sunday Riley Aquamarine Melt Cleansing Gel-Balm

Sunday Riley

Sunday Riley’s CEO. 15% Vitamin C Brightening Serum is one of my favourite glow-boosting products of all time, and its new Aquamarine Melt Cleansing Gel Balm is ace at removing stubborn make-up, while the ‘rinse-proof’ hyaluronic acid prevents skin feeling stiff or dry after cleansing. Genius.

The water-based B3 Nice 10% Niacinamide Serum is ideal for those struggling with redness and oiliness, but still want the brightening powers of niacinamide to help with post-breakout pigmentation.

CeraVe Intensive Moisturising Lotion for Very Dry Skin

CeraVe

I’ve lost count of how many dermatologists have recommended CeraVe, and considering the affordable price point, it’s not a brand to miss out on. Its Intensive Moisturising Lotion for Very Dry Skin can be used on the face and body and has been a saviour for the patches of eczema that have been irritating me lately.

The SA Smoothing Cream with Salicylic Acid is ideal for any rough patches or the KP I get on my arms, while the Micellar Cleansing Water is a staple on my bedside table for whenever I lack the energy to head to the bathroom to take off my make-up.
