The cold weather can wreak havoc so invest in one of these heavy hitters to help keep it plump and hydrated all winter long.
It’s no secret that skin suffers at the hands of cold weather.
We’re constantly reaching for the nearest lip balm, hand cream and most importantly, moisturiser. Plummeting temperatures wreak havoc with the moisture barrier meaning that cracked, dehydrated skin becomes the norm.
“The cold weather is a recognised cause of skin dryness. Low humidity and exposure to high wind will strip away moisture from the skin surface,” says Dr Anjali Mahto, Consultant Dermatologist at the Cadogan Clinic. “We tend to have the central heating on and opt for hot showers or baths which can then further exacerbate the problem.”
Dr Mahto suggests moisturising the skin immediately after a bath or shower to help lock-in that much-needed moisture, “Look for moisturisers containing ingredients such as glycerin, ceramides, urea, hyaluronic acid,” she says.
You can inject lost moisture with our round up of the best thirst-quenching face creams, hydrating gels and emollients to see you through the winter weather.
Spend, splurge or save with face moisturisers to suit every budget and skin type.
