There are lots of hair tools on the market but none are able to recreate that salon-worthy blow dry quite like the Shark 5-in-1 Air Styler…
When it comes to hair styling, I find that people often fall into two camps: those who can recreate that bouncy salon blow dry at home and those who… can’t. I fall into the latter category.
Despite having interviewed hundreds of hairdressers over the years, there’s something about the angle of a round brush, the weight of a hairdryer and the patience of a saint that means I simply cannot recreate a professional-looking blow dry at home. Meaning I’ve come to rely on hair straighteners for daily styling. And while I love my trusty Ghds – I know that it’s not ideal to be using so much heat on my hair every day.
Thanks to my job as a beauty editor, I’ve tried lots of hair styling tools, but none have made that at-home blow dry quite as easy as the new Shark Beauty 5-in-1 Air Styler. With five attachments, there’s something for all your styling needs and the lightweight, but ultra-powerful air power makes drying quick and easy.
Don’t get me wrong – there are other hair tools on the market that offer similar attachments and styling options but I’ve personally never found that they quite work for me. While the oval and paddle brush attachments are great for styling and smoothing, it’s the auto-wrap curlers that really give you that big, bouncy salon-worthy blow dry at home.
How to use the Shark Beauty 5-in-1 Air Styler and Hair Dryer
I start by blasting my hair with the hairdryer until it’s around 80-90% dry. Then, taking a small section of hair, allow the airflow technology to wrap each strand around the barrel – holding it in place for a few seconds, before pressing the cool button to set the style in place for a further 5-10 seconds.

Now, this is when you have to trust the process, because once you’ve curled the whole of your hair, you will be sporting a look that’s reminiscent of an ‘80s perm. But a quick spritz of hair spray (I love Oribe Dry Texturising Mist) and a brush through and you’re left with the best bouncy blow dry ever.
At £299.99 it is an investment – but I personally think that the results are well worth the price. Plus, as you’re only heat-styling your hair once (removing the need for a second tool like a straightener or traditional curling tong) there’s less heat damage on your hair – meaning healthier locks in the long run.
If like me you’ve struggled to get that salon blow dry at home, this might be just the tool you’ve been waiting for.
