Want to try a fringe but scared you’ll regret the decision? Sculpted bangs might be the way to go…

If you’re looking to switch up your hair, chances are you’ll have considered cutting in a fringe. But whether you’re considering a blunt, choppy fringe or bohemian curtain bangs, it’s a commitment. We’ve all been there: you see a wispy, cool-girl fringe on Instagram, only to have it cut in and instantly regret the decision as soon as you get home.

But this summer’s latest hair trend could save us those months of post-fringe regret. Want to audition the millennial-loved side-fringe without having to actually cut your hair? Say hello to ‘sculpted bangs’.

What are sculpted bangs?

“Following on from the popularity of [last season’s] side partings, this deep side-fringe is set in place – meaning it can actually be achieved without necessarily cutting your hair,” explains hairstylist and trend expert Tom Smith. “Sculpted bangs frame the face beautifully and give a refined look to almost any hairstyle.

“This is a great look for those who want to try a fringe but are scared to cut their hair or for those who want to have the look of a side fringe for an occasion.”

How to get sculpted bangs without cutting your hair

“First, create a side parting, and then take the front section separately to the rest. Spray with a working hairspray and then brush it through position it carefully, letting it fall across your forehead,” says Smith.

“Next, secure it in place either by tucking behind your ear, using a hair-clip or accessory and finish with another mist of hairspray. For a softer look, use a straightening iron to bend the hair into place with a curve and set with hairspray – no pins required.”
