AW19 Fashion Month started with a bang at Rodarte, who showcased the new collections in LA.
It’s that time of year again where all the fashion houses come together around the world to showcase their collections for the upcoming season. We know it doesn’t feel like two minutes since the last Fashion Month, but here we are.
The AW19 shows were kicked off in style with Rodarte choosing to shun New York in order to return to their LA roots. The brand is known for its bold looks (last season saw models don fresh roses and yellow eyeshadow), and while the clothes definitely didn’t disappoint this season, it’s the make-up look that we’re really here for.
Created by James Kaliardos using Nars Cosmetics, models were sent down the runway wearing one of four different looks – each of which showcased new products that are due to launch next month.
Speaking backstage, Kaliardos said, “The make-up for this show was inspired by the vibrant glitter from classic Hollywood musicals,” – something that more than shines through and was appropriate for the show’s chosen location.
Skin was prepped with Nars skincare, and the base remained the same with Kaliardos choosing to use Sheer Glow Foundation, £33.50, followed by Radiant Creamy Concealer, £24 and Soft Velvet Loose Powder, £29 as a starting point for all the models.
All the looks used Fireclay Mosaic Blush (available 15 March) on cheeks for a soft flush, while the red look featured Don’t Stop Powermatte Lip Pigment, £23 topped with glitter on both the eyes and lips. The berry look used Janet Audacious Lipstick, £26 combined with Fanny Audacious Lipstick, £26, and then glitter was pressed on top for the impressively sparkly finish.
If this is a sign of things to come then roll on the rest of fashion month - we can’t wait to see what else is in store.
