From surprise haircuts to gothic glam and gorgeous bobs, here’s all of the best beauty trends from the red carpet at the 2025 Academy Awards.
Every Hollywood event requires a certain level of glamour and this year’s Oscars served some sensational beauty looks. The 97th Academy Awards welcomed the stars to the Dolby Theatre on 2 March 2025 to celebrate another staggering year in film.
Musicals had their moment with the billion-dollar-box-office hit Wicked taking home Best Costume Design and Best Production Design, while musical crime drama Emilia Pérez scooped up three wins including Zoe Saldaña winning Best Supporting Actress. Away from musicals, Anora took home the big wins bagging Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actress for Mikey Madison.
As with most prestigious awards, the red carpet was an event in itself. Gorgeous gowns, old school Hollywood glamour and iconic nods to vintage classics (in fashion and film) were debuted by actors such as Wicked’s Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, The Substance’s Demi Moore, Anora’s Mikey Madison and The White Lotus’ Lisa.
A host of famous faces also turned out to support their co-stars such as last year’s Best Actress winner Emma Stone who presented the award this year to Mikey Madison for Anora and Best Supporting Actress winner Da’Vine Joy Randolph returned to present her category’s award to winner, Zoe Saldana for Emilia Pérez.
The stars didn’t miss the opportunity to debut a fresh new beauty trend too such as bangs, a surprise haircut (or two), bleached browns, gothic glam or a nostalgic 2000s hairstyle. Here are all the best beauty looks from the Oscars 2025, which we’ll be updating live throughout the night.
Lisa
If anyone could make you want bangs again, it’s Lisa with her gorgeous block fringe. With the rest of her hair swept back behind her ears, the bangs remain a statement feature that match the energy of this iconic tuxedo dress.
Miley Cyrus
Bleached brows completely transform Miley Cyrus’ gothic goddess aesthetic. Matched with a heavy liner and nude lip, the focus remains firmly on the mesh and lace details of her exquisite gown.
Da'Vine Joy Randolph
Da’Vine Joy Randolph might not be collecting an official award this year, but this sensational ensemble deserves recognition. Debuting a new cropped bob with a chic side fringe, this beautiful look is another reminder of why Randolph is forever our style icon.
Halle Berry
Halle Berry is serving some 90s nostalgic with this slicked back bob with gorgeous flipped ends. It’s a deceptively simple style that is effortlessly effective (and difficult to achieve), all of which elevates this statement metallic dress.
Ariana Grande
Nobody serves soft glam quite like Ariana Grande. Delightfully delicate, the pastel pink hues blend effortlessly from the soft eyeshadow to the sweet blush and bright candy-coloured lip. Paired with the slicked-back bun, Grande radiates timeless elegance. Glinda would wholeheartedly approve.
Doja Cat
Doja Cat always delivers and while this smoky eye isn’t as dramatic as her wet-sparkly tears from the Met Gala in 2024, there’s a true art to mastering a smoky cat eye. Subtle and sleek, the look oozes effortless glam especially when finished off with a soft pink blush and strong lined-lip.
Lily-Rose Depp
The make-up-less make-up look is all the rage on the red carpet. Lily-Rose Depp sported the minimal look with naked bold brows, a nude lip and a light layer of liner under the eye to elevate her everyday look.
Storm Reid
Imagine attending your first Oscars and looking as effortlessly glamorous as Storm Reid. Serving up some old Hollywood-style beauty with beauty spots, a warm lip and one singular soft curl, Reid is styled to perfection.
Cynthia Erivo
Nobody does occasion nails like Cynthia Erivo and the Oscars were no different. The Best actress nominee debuted a fresh set of gold and emerald Wicked-inspired nails that were ornately decorated with motifs such as a watch face and a gold ring.
Emma Stone
Stone loves to make a statement on the red carpet - especially when it comes to her hairstyle. After she debuted her pixie cut at the Golden Globes, the Oscar-winner opted to style it with a 1920s vintage style soft curl. It pairs beautifully with her soft glam make-up too.
Selena Gomez
Selena Gomez sported a 1950s-style bouncy bob that curved gracefully round her face in a soft curl. The soft smoky eye and timeless hairstyle added to the elegance of this glass-beaded gown and decadent diamond necklace.
Mikey Madison
Anora star Mikey Madison brought the drama with her sculpted bold eyeliner that added depth and definition to her otherwise subtle natural make-up. Inspired by the timeless film Breakfast at Tiffany’s, this look combines the best of contemporary and classic beauty styles to create something entirely new and eye-catching.
