There’s nothing quite like a fresh set of summer nails, so break out those pretty pastel colours, neon tips – this is set to be the season of Aperol nails. 

Pair your nails with your favourite cocktail with tasty shades of tangerine, apricot, coral and Fanta orange. Citrus colours are perfect for summer nail, with Sicilian lemon and Seville orange reminding us of some of our favourite European cities.

From intricate segments of fruit painted to funky individual patterns on each nail, there’s a design to suit every summer activity, whether you’re island hopping or heading off to the Eras tour.

It’s no surprise that these bright shades are back on-trend: Pantone named peach fuzz its colour of the year, with the executive director of the Pantone Colour Institute, Leatrice Eiseman, describing it as a “colour radiant with warmth and modern elegance”. 

While it may be daunting to swap out your staple shades for brighter ones, London-based manicurist Metta Francis, founder of mobile nail service Nails by Mets, assures us there’s a shade to suit every skin tone. 

“Orange is such a fun colour and can be worn in a variety of ways. Neon, fluorescent orange is my favourite for a pop of summer colour, especially on toes,” she says.

If you prefer a softer finish, perhaps use orange nail varnish as an accent colour or use a subtle shade of peach. Francis continues: “You can’t go wrong with orange French tips, half moons and asymmetric tips or wavy designs. A chrome pigment or top coat will also give your nails a gorgeous glazed look.”
