We all have beauty regrets: that questionable blue hair mascara that seemed so chic back in the nineties, for example, or that glittery eyeshadow that looked great when you left the house, but would inevitably end up smeared all over your face by the end of the school disco.

So it was reassuring to learn that Nicole Kidman – award winning actress, kickass producer, general superhero – has also been harbouring a beauty regret for all this time.

Speaking to Who magazine, the Australian actress revealed she has “ruined” her signature ringlets (below) over time, and wishes she could get back her original curls.

“I wish I had my curls back,” she said.

“I tortured them to death. I always say, 'Don't ruin the ringlets!'”

Kidman, 49, added that she was initially keen to kill her curls in her efforts to “conform” to a beauty standard that wasn’t quite right for her anyway.

“I really wanted to have that suntanned skin and long blonde hair,” she said.

“I wanted to conform and be the Aussie beach girl. And I was never going to be that.”

The actress, who is currently starring alongside Reese Witherspoon in Big Little Lies, also opened up on her decade-long marriage to singer Keith Urban.

“As much as we have a love, we also have an incredible friendship and trust,” she said.
