From essential everyday make-up to the ultimate purple shampoo, these are the cutting-edge beauty heroes to add to your basket…
We all have our favourite beauty products – indispensable hero products for which our loyalty burns long and bright.
However, sometimes you want to shake things up with a new addition to your routine – a shiny new product that puts an extra spring in your step every time you reach for the bathroom cabinet.
With that in mind we asked beauty expert Sophie Blackledge, Senior Commercial Manager at FLANNELS Beauty, to give us her pick of the hottest new products to add to your ensemble.
Better still, with FLANNELS offering 20% off products in-store and online when you use the code FESTIVAL20, you can get your hands on all of them for less.
Time to get familiar with some new beauty essentials…
1. The highlighter
Gucci Beauty – Éclat De Beauté Effet Lumière Gel Face Gloss
Gucci puts its own stamp on the barely-there make-up look with this subtle and lightweight gloss for eyes, lips and cheeks.
“Though the product doesn’t include glitter or shimmer, the gloss makes a high-shine statement with a ‘wet’ effect on the face which can be worn on its own or on top of make-up to add an extra glow to your look,” explains Blackledge.
“I’m a big fan of applying it to the eyelids as an alternative to eyeshadow – it makes you look super fresh-faced.”
2. The facial oil
Charlotte Tilbury – Collagen Superfusion Facial Oil
The first-ever oil from Charlotte Tilbury was always going to be a massive deal, and happily, the hype is justified by a concentrated hit of collagen that smooths, hydrates and plumps tired skin.
“Apply in the morning for radiant skin, with the oil working its magic to hydrate and brighten your face,” suggests Blackledge.
“Or try applying it at night for a rich and calming effect that will bring you a firmer-feeling complexion the next day.”
3. The blusher
Patrick Ta – Major Headlines Double Take Crème & Powder Blush Singles
Dewy make-up is a springtime essential, and this dual blush compact from celebrity make-up don Patrick Ta is about to become your go-to.
“It’s the perfect toolkit for an everyday look that’s bold but easy to create,” says Blackledge.
“Apply the powder first with a brush, then add the cream to the apples of your cheeks for an all-day glow.”
4. The mascara
MAC – MACStack Mascara
One of the year’s most-hyped beauty drops, Mac’s new mascara promises to work harder than anything else in your make-up bag.
“As well as adding volume, it stretches, separates, lifts and curls lashes,” explains Blackledge. “Pretty much everything you could ask from a mascara.”
“Don’t be afraid to layer it up,” she continues. “The product is formulated to be buildable and clump-free, with light, soft and defined lashes, even after multiple layers.”
It’s 2022’s must-have launch, without a doubt.
5. The breakout gel
Kate Somerville – Eradikate Blemish Mark Fading Gel
The newest product from cult US skincare brand, Kate Somerville, is a godsend for anyone struggling with blemish-prone skin.
Formulated with a prebiotic complex to help maintain a balanced microbiome, expect to see an improvement in your skin’s tone and texture, thanks to some of heavy-hitting hero ingredients.
“Salicylic acid works hard to help minimise the appearance of acne,” explains Blackledge, “while niacinamide helps diminish any resulting discoloration.”
“It’s nice and lightweight, making it easy to work into your skin, and can be easily incorporated into either your morning or nighttime routine.”
6. The fragrance
Tom Ford – Rose de Chine Eau de Parfum
The latest scent from Tom Ford is giving serious golden-hour-on-the-Amalfi-Coast vibes, with notes of rose and bergamot combining for a spicy, warm and floral scent.
“Chic, light and fresh, it’s the perfect scent for the spring and summer months ahead,” says Blackledge.
Dreamy pink hue, too.
7. The shampoo
Olaplex – No. 4P Blonde Enhancer Toning Shampoo
Cult haircare brand Olaplex has launched its first-ever purple shampoo with a bang, promising to make blonde hair three times brighter than its competitors.
“The cutting-edge toning system neutralises brassy tones while intensely moisturising and brightening your hair,” explains Blackledge.
“It’s highly pigmented, but don’t let that put you off – just work with a little less product if you’re looking for a more subdued finish.”
