3, 2, 1 and... smize: husband's boudoir photo shoot for his wife's birthday goes viral

After boudoir, comes dudeoir.

Photographer Masika Allan has captured many important milestones for friend Brendon Williams: his engagement, wedding and newborn baby to name a few.

So when he said he wanted to make a photo album for his wife's birthday, she was only too happy to oblige.

If you're not familiar with the concept of the increasingly popular 'boudoir' shoot, one quick Google image search should put you right (NB perhaps not at work).

Big across the pond, the sessions usually involve women in lingerie, or nude, creating beautiful shots to either give a significant other as a present or to keep for themselves as a confidence boost.

As with all popular trends, some aspects have become standard, with common sultry poses including the coy girl-next-door look (usually involving an oversized t-shirt), the conveniently bum-highlighting bed shot and professionally rendered #bathlegs.

And Williams' dudeoir shoot expertly covered them all.

Allan, whose company, Masika May Photography, is based in Duncan, Canada, posted the pictures on her business Facebook page and captioned the set, “If you've ever wondered what it would be like if men did boudoir photos....”

While male boudoir photography isn't unheard of, the poses are usually rather different and Williams' shots have been shared thousands of times.

“When he came here, I just did exactly what I do with all of my boudoir sessions,” Allan told globalnews.ca. “I posed him how I would pose all the ladies.

“Other than hair and make-up, we basically did everything that I would do at a regular boudoir session.”

While clearly intended to be humourous and light-hearted, after some online comments, Allan clarified that the pictures were purely for entertainment and not intended to be social commentary on gender issues.

She posted on her page: “I have known his wife my entire life and photographed every milestone this couple has had. These photos were taken to make his wife (and everybody else) laugh. I would in no way post these if he had expected all serious reactions and without his permission.”

And Williams himself replied, “It wasn't done as a joke but it was meant to be entertaining. I think a joke would have been to dress up in full bra and panties and a wig, I can see the problem there. On the other hand I'm not your typical wood chopping car fixing type of guy, so the style these photos were in is very much in tune with my personality.

“For what it's worth I had a total blast doing this shoot and if there are any walmart brand underwear companies looking to offer big bucks to an average dude you know where to find me.”
