If you want to have a bit more colourful fun with your face, a bright, bold eyeliner can be a great place to start.

Folu Olufemi, expert make-up artist with Nyx Professional Makeup, tells Stylist: “We’re seeing a rise in the popularity of adding a little colour to your make-up routine, and I think one of the reasons wearing a colourful liner is particularly appealing right now is because it’s one of the most approachable ways to explore colour.

“It’s a way to stand out with your make-up without feeling like you’re doing too much. Minimalistically maximalist.”

How to get the look

Olufemi explains: “For day and office-suitable looks, try a gel or pencil liner. Make sure the pencil is sharpened, hold it to its side for more control, and stay close to the lash line to add a very subtle pop of colour.

“For a bolder look, try a liquid liner. If you are a complete beginner with colour, pair it up with your normal black or brown liner. First apply your normal winged liner, then add a small coloured line at the very corner, just under the wing as a small accent.”
