Pink eyeshadow is having a big moment, but it’s not as scary as it sounds – here’s the proof

Instead of being bright and garish, this season’s pink tones are soft, delicate and incredibly easy to wear.
It seems the days of wearing neutral eyeshadow are gone and 2024 is the year we’re embracing colour. First, it was varying tones of blue, and now pink is making an epic return to our lids – and we couldn’t be happier about it.
Pink is such an underrated colour when it comes to eyeshadow. Sure, it could be for good reason given its links to various eye infections, but we’re ready and raring to change the narrative once and for all.
“A lot of people think Oh no, I’m going to look like I have pink eye, but no. You’re going to look amazing,” says Katie Jane Hughes, make-up artist and founder of KJH Brand. “The key to making it work is to dress up the eyes with a lot of mascara, creating that sort of ‘dolly’ lash. That really helps pink eyeshadow look its best,” she says. “I also love it paired with a gorgeous, fresh dewy skin.”
But the other thing to remember is that you can go as bright or as rosy-toned or as pale as you like. “Pink eyeshadow can even be worn in the form of highlighter on the eyes – it really can be whatever you want it to be, and it can be different for every person,” explains Hughes.
“So, for me – as somebody who’s comfortable with it – I would wear bold fuchsia shades, but if you’re new to it, I would suggest starting with a more sheer pastel pink and then doing a Twiggy-inspired, spiky, spidery lash just to lean into the trend,” she says.
Hughes also says not to shy away from a pink eyeshadow look paired with a red lip. “That is the epitome of cool. I think it just looks so fabulous and amazing, especially when it’s done with contrast – so when the red is a real deep, rosebud-esque red, and the eyes have a soft pop of pastel on them. To me, that is just… chef’s kiss,” she says.
So, now that we’ve convinced you, these are the best pink eye products to shop now, no matter what level of intensity you want to achieve…
