Reader question:

I’ve been over plucking my brows for years and want to brow them back into a thicker more natural shape. But the thought of that straggly regrowth taking over my face terrifies me. Do you have any tips for making the transition a little easier? - Jennifer via email

Answer from Stylist's beauty assistant Anita Bhagwandas:

In my younger days I was a serial over plucker so I know about the hardship of growing brows back to their natural glory. If you’re desperate for quick regrowth, brow booster products like M2Brows Eyebrow Renewing Serum (£133), have a legion of fans and boast seriously impressive results, but will still take around eight weeks to make a real difference to the density of your brow hair. That aside, it’s simply a case of waiting... and waiting some more... to get this season’s full brow. I’d advise only plucking any hairs from the very underside of your brows whilst you’re re-growing them. If you pluck from anywhere else they’ll just remain patchy for longer. You could also keep them looking tidy by using a brow gel (I adore MAC’s clear Brow Set, £14) or brushing them upwards to give them a little more definition. And for when the regrowth gets to that unbearable stage, try this little trick I discovered backstage at fashion week: disguise new hairs with thick perfectly matched concealer, blot to remove excess product and then brush over a little powder to set. It makes the patchy regrowth much easier to bear and far less noticeable. Above all persevere with the growing, you only have to do it once and you’ll reap the full, power-browed rewards. Once you’re done – it’s definitely worth treating yourself to a professional shape by a trained threader and then it’s just about maintaining that shape. Hurrah!
