With the furore over Protein World's adverts, which depict a woman in a bikini with the words 'Are You Beach Body Ready' emblazoned next to her, many people have been wondering - how exactly do you get beach body ready?
Well, thankfully artist Gemma Correll has answered that all-important question for us and it doesn't involve downing drinks to ensure we're the "perfect" size, or having to adhere to some patriarchal notion of what a body should look like to be "beach ready".
In the series of six pictures, Gemma gives her tongue-in-cheek take on how best to prepare for hitting the beach.
First up, she suggests dislocating your shoulder so you can apply tanning lotion to yourself (well, it is pretty hard to apply it without the help from someone else).
Next, she recommends growing your toenails and painting them yellow so that seagulls think they're chips and therefore they will give you a free pedicure.
Another genius idea is stretching your belly button so that you can balance a can on beer on it, so you don't get any sand in it.
Finally, she just suggests taking your body to the beach. Therefore you will have a beach ready body. As, she quite rightly says, life is too short.
