The lead up to spooky season is well and truly underway, so there’s no better time to indulge in some ghoulishly fun nail art.
If, like the Stylist beauty team, you consider Halloween to be just as important as any other seasonal holiday, you’ll already have grabbed spooky season by the (devil) horns and be ready to embrace it in its entirety.
We’re talking pumpkin spice everything, Hocus Pocus on repeat, cosy candles burning, and we’re hoping those orange cushions, candles and fairy lights you bought on a whim are loud and proud on display.
But even if you haven’t nodded enthusiastically along to all of the above, one thing we highly recommend getting on board with is Halloween nails. What better excuse is there to have a friendly ghost or some creepy little spiders adorn your hands?
So, to help you with a little bit of inspiration, we’ve rounded up our favourite looks – some more understated than others – to request at your favourite salon. You won’t regret it, we promise.
Full throttle
If this is your season, take inspiration from these Halloween character-inspired nails, handpainted by Izzy Taylor, which come complete with blood splatters.
Halloween confetti
Not looking for something too OTT? This micro Halloween-inspired mani delivers spooky fun while being understated at the same time.
Devil’s work
A teeny-tiny glittery-horned devil on your thumb? Of course it’s a good idea.
Flaming hot
If you’re a fan of the flame nail art trend, this dragon-inspired take on the design is definitely one to save.
Cat eye
Superstitious? These petite black cats will not only look cute but also bring you some luck (well, we hope so).
If you’ve got it, haunt it
Who said Halloween nails had to be all gloom and doom? This sparkly pink manicure nails the theme without compromising on colour. Think: Elle Woods meets Halloween.
Spidey French tips
If you find it hard to stray away from French tips (we don’t blame you), incorporating this spiderweb design is a spooky take on the classic design.
Get ghosted
Kudos to the first person who decided to make ghosts cute, because these little guys are adorable.
Ghoulish glitter
These glittery, light-reflecting ghosts – cleverly done using cat eye chrome polish – will blow your mind every time you look down at your hands.
Bloody good nails
Gore, but make it fashion. These blood-drip nails are a great way to incorporate vampirecore into your manicure.
Spider-(wo)man
Even if you don’t want to go all in and have a spider drawn on each nail (just one or two on each hand would still work), there’s something oddly satisfying about this design.
Cutey ’kins
The only problem with these little pumpkins is that you’ll have to watch them being removed in a few weeks’ time – and we’re not being held responsible for any nail art-induced heartbreak.
Web design
The cat eye nail trend isn’t going anywhere. Pair with delicate spiderwebs for a showstopping set.
Bloodbath
Forgo illustrations and instead opt for a Halloween-inspired deep red and black colour palette.
Bejewelled ghosts
Joyful ghosts and chromatic stars – what’s not to love? This understated nail art is guaranteed to deliver happy endorphins.
French (ghost) tips
The classic French tip with a ghostly twist.
