We’re finally saying goodbye to the warm weather and embracing the snuggly cooler months. That not only means reaching for the woolly jumpers that have been tucked away for months but it also calls for a hair colour switch up. Whether you are bleach-blonde post-summer or fancy a change for the latter part of 2024, we’re here to report that the latest It hair colour for the spooky season is ‘teddy bear blonde’.

It’s ‘bronde’ hair 2.0 and has over 38.6 million posts (and counting) on TikTok. Essentially, it’s all about embracing warmer blonde tones and features creamy golden highlights scattered throughout. Think of golden honey, burnt butter and beige neutrals as the colour palette. The brassier, the better. It’s a more au naturel take and feels far more low-maintenance than the brighter Barbie-esque blondes we’ve been seeing over the summer.

“Our message is not that you get into winter and you suddenly get rid of your blonde, it’s about altering the tone of it,” says Zoë Irwin, creative director at John Frieda Salons. “It’s all to do with the rise of the supernatural mid-blonde where you’ve got the deeper tones underneath,” she says. The good news? If you’re already a blonde it’s fairly simple to nail this trend. “Using a glaze or a toner makes this really easy to achieve because it’s about taking what you’ve got and putting a shadow over the top of it. You still have the underlying colour so it’s possible to restore it easily. It’s a seasonal change in tone,” says Irwin.

If you’re not a natural blonde, we’re pleased to report that this trend embraces dark roots so that you won’t need quite so many visits to your colourist. Beyoncé herself recently endorsed the hue, having recently ditched her platinum shade, so you know it’s got to be good.
