The chic long fringe can either be your best friend or a flyaway mess depending on how responsive it is to being styled on any given day. Rain and heat can impact this beautiful, face framing cut and turn it from a chic feature to a regrettable one.

The secret to perfecting a long fringe – for straight and curly hair – all comes down to the styling and, more importantly, the products used. Angelo Vallillo, style director at STIL, says it ultimately depends on how the hair is dried. 

“My top tip would be directional blowdrying: moving the fringe right to left to give more freedom for the hair to sit, which will allow it to be a bit more versatile,” Vallillo says.

“Another great tip is to take a big roller or a round brush and blowdry everything forward, so that when you release and push the hair back, you will get a beautiful curtain bang.”

As with all fashionable hairstyles, the long fringe can be altered for different hair types and face shapes to ensure everyone has that bouncy, voluminous finish.

“This style absolutely depends on the face shape and the hair texture,” Vallillo adds. “Someone with curly hair would tend to have a slightly longer fringe, but it’s all bespoke to each individual as this is the main focal point of the haircut.”
