From blunt cuts to side-swept bangs, these celebrity fringe hairstyles are guaranteed to inspire your next hair transformation.
Chances are, you’ve landed on this article because you’re debating getting a fringe. Maybe it’s Taylor Swift’s bangs that’ve inspired you, or perhaps you spent the whole of January thinking about Claudia Winkleman’s iconic fringe while watching The Traitors, or it could be just be a random stranger on Instagram or TikTok that’s got you thinking.
But regardless of who’s inspired you, asking yourself should I cut in a fringe? is a question everybody has asked at least once in their life. And, like any hair transformation, it requires some consideration. After all, depending on the style you go for, fringes and bangs can be a major commitment, simply because they require regular trims and styling.
That’s why it’s important to consider, then, whether you mind hair on your face and potentially in your eyes, whether you’re able to find time for regular trims, and whether you will be willing to spend some time styling those eyebrow-skimming layers each morning – because we know first hand how annoying it is when your hair just won’t sit right because you’ve slept in an odd position.
Should you opt for a fringe or bangs?
But, while there are many reasons not to get a fringe cut in, there are also plenty of reasons to take the plunge, too. The most important one being, of course, that it’s a dramatic change that… well, that isn’t actually all that dramatic. Because let’s face it, the rest of your hair and style can remain untouched if you ask your hairdresser for a blunt fringe, a soft side-swept number or even something as bold as ‘baby bangs’ (think Audrey Hepburn’s short, wispy, impulse fringe in Roman Holiday).
Essentially, the ever-versatile fringe hairstyle is an incredibly chic and accessible look, which really can be tailored to suit any face shape or style.
Don’t believe us? Get ready for some serious celebrity bangs inspiration…
Celebrities with bangs and fringe hairstyles
Taylor Swift
Taylor’s bangs really have become a part of her, and her hair is a constant source of inspiration for us. At the 2024 Golden Globes, Swift’s full fringe was paired with glamorous waves and a green Gucci dress.
Claudia Winkleman
Claudia Winkleman without her iconic fringe would simply not be Claudia Winkleman. The glossy black hair, the thick black eyeliner and the eye-skimming fringe are part of her identity, and we couldn’t love it – or her – more.
Zendaya
It’s no secret that baby bangs aren’t for everybody, but Zendaya proves she isn’t everybody. Showcasing her new style at the Fendi show during Paris Fashion Week, her longtime stylist, Law Roach, said it marked ‘a new era’ and we’re so here for it.
Dakota Johnson
Arguably one of the most perfect fringes, we love how Dakota Johnson’s fringe sits just above her eyebrows.
Dua Lipa
It’s Dua Lipa’s long sweeping side fringe paired with the sleek half up, half down do for us – what a combination.
Keke Palmer
Keke Palmer’s long, sweeping side part and side fringe have been styled perfectly to create impressive volume – and it’s serving as serious inspiration.
Jennifer Lopez
J-Lo’s glossy, bouncy blow-dry and the oh-so-perfect sweeping curtain bangs is pure perfection.
Emily Ratajkowski
Em Rata is a prime example of how to grow out a fringe in the chicest, most effortless way.
Camila Cabello
Taking inspo from Zendaya (or did Zendaya inspire Camila, we wonder?), Camila Cabello’s baby bangs and choppy layers are definitely a vibe.
Penelope Cruz
The one and only Penelope Cruz is further proof that the Y2K sweeping side fringe is slowly making its way into 2024, and to be honest, we’re very happy about it.
