Which is where the ‘French-girl fringe’ comes in. An easy hair update that doesn’t require a full haircut, this simple trend is an easy way to elevate your look and give yourself an effortless je ne sais quoi quality. 

“This trend involves blunt, slightly wispy bangs that sit just above the eyebrows,” explains Don Kurland, stylist at Blue Tit Portobello. “Often paired with a mid-length cut, it’s chic and effortless, perfect for those who want to add a touch of Parisian flair to their look.” 

If you’re looking for A-list inspiration, you only have to look at the likes of Dakota Johnson, Lily Collins and Alexa Chung, all of whom have previously mastered the art of a softly textured fringe. The key takeaway? A French-girl fringe shouldn’t look too perfect – it’s meant to feel lived-in and relaxed. 

To keep your fringe looking its best, regular trims are essential. “You’ll want to head to your stylist every three to four weeks,” says Kurland. “This will stop it from growing out too much and keep that signature just-above-the-eyebrows length.” It’s a good idea to speak to your stylist and see what they recommend, as many salons offer complimentary fringe trims between cuts.
