Forget about icy blonde tones, this spring is all about warming up your colour. Here’s the colour that experts predict will be everywhere this season.

If you’ve spent the last decade trying to get those icy, cool tones that were all the rage in the 2010s, we’re here to tell you to step away from the purple shampoo and take a breath because warm-toned blondes are back.

The more natural hair colour means we’re not spending all our free time colour-correcting or in the salon chair. Instead, this buttery hue will make you look like you were born with golden locks. Say hello to ‘creme brulee’ hair.

As the name suggests, this is inspired by the caramelised top of the decadent dessert, which is going to be the go-to colour palette this season. It’s so brassy and golden that it could look copper in certain lights.

According to hairstylist Tom Smith, these golden tones are about to be everywhere. Think of it as last year’s trending sunflower blonde but with a revamp. “While single global shades are also going to be trending, the modern Goldilocks is bringing blondes back to classic highlights with a new update on tone,” says Smith.

“Historically, warm tones ought to be banished, but thanks to the appeal of golden sunny reflects, we’ll be seeing these in a variety of softer blonde designs that also grow out softly,” he adds. This creme brulee hair shade not only looks more natural, but it also means the upkeep isn’t as high-maintenance as the cooler blonde hues that used to be the number one request in salons.

Instead, Smith says to ask your stylist for a ‘golden toner’ and ditch that purple shampoo for good. The added warmth is more forgiving when your roots start to appear and looks more effortless.

If that wasn’t enough, embracing the golden tones in this creme brulee shade will add some life back into your hair and leave it looking in better condition. “Warm tones will make the hair healthier looking and shinier and make you feel brighter and sunnier all year round,” believes Smith.
