Breeze through autumn with this cool, effortless blonde hair colour shade.
If you’re not ready to give up your blonde for autumn, you absolutely don’t have to: breezy blonde is set to take the spotlight this upcoming season.
Inspired by Daisy Edgar-Jones, breezy-blonde soft 70s layers and bangs will be the cool-girl look to transition into autumn, according to Samantha Cusick, hairstylist and founder of Samantha Cusick London. Here’s everything you need to know about the shade, plus some inspo pics to take to your next hair appointment.
What is breezy blonde?
Breezy blonde is the perfect way to freshen up your look for autumn. “It captures the last rays of summer sunshine with the sunkissed, bordering-on blonde shades and blends them with the rich tones of your natural base colour,” Cusick tells Stylist. Sounds as beautiful as it looks.
“Think of it as a beautiful blend of subtle sunkissed-bordering-on-blonde tones,” with light brown tones blended together. “It’s that effortless, breezy vibe that makes you look like you’ve just spent a summer by the beach yet still giving chic autumnal vibes for cosy season,” she adds.
Essentially it’s a way of making blonde feel a little more autumnal without going full brunette (and making your colourist weep after spending so many months getting you blonde for the summer). It can be adapted for your most suitable shade of blonde.
What to ask your stylist for?
Cusick says that a blonde-brown fusion is the goal. “Request a mix of warm blonde and light brown tones that melt together seamlessly, giving a breezy, effortless look.” The colour you’re starting from will determine how your colourist takes you to breezy blonde. She notes that you can get some subtle sunkissed balayage in there too, which can also be used to frame the face.
If you want to truly emulate Edgar-Jones’s look then go for face framing layers. “Ask for a soft shag cut with textured layers that frame your face along with textured 70s curtain bangs,” Cusick explains.
