Whether it’s a bob or the curl-friendly halo cut, there’s a unifying theme when it comes to 2024 hair trends: fringes.
You may have noticed that a lot of this year’s biggest haircut trends involve some type of fringe. With so many options – wispy, side-swept, long or curly – it’s easy to find the one that best suits you.
“The beauty of the 2024 craze for bangs is that there is a fringe for everyone, no matter what hair type or face shape,” says Rebecca Jordan, stylist and senior technician at Taylor Taylor London. “An immediate update to most haircuts, there are myriad options to choose from. In terms of transformation, when we cut a new fringe the reaction is priceless and immediate. It’s one of those things that can boost someone’s life in an instant.”
To help you find the right one, we asked some of the industry’s leading experts to share their favourite fringe trends of the moment…

Curly bangs
“Minimal styling and holistic hair are big trends for 2024 and this one embraces natural texture,” says curly hair specialist Nuala Morey. “Curly bangs are versatile and can complement various curl patterns. They should sit lightly on the forehead, allowing the natural curl pattern to frame the face. Zendaya’s natural curls are a great example.
“To style, choose eco-friendly, sustainable products that nourish curls and are free from ingredients such as SLS and parabens. Apply a lightweight curl cream and a gel to damp hair, scrunching upward to enhance curls. Diffuse or air dry for a natural look.”
Curtains
“Curtain bangs are going to be huge this year; they literally frame the face,” says Jonathan Andrew, global ambassador and hairstylist at Fudge Professional. They are such an easy way to update a current style with a small amount of commitment. Plus, they’re low maintenance.
“Curtain bangs are a softer, sweeping version of the straight-across blunt fringes of yesteryear. They can work on any face shape as they are tailored to the individual using the guide of the part of the face you want to frame as your stop point – and then they fall gently apart, just like a sweeping curtain.”
Side-swept fringe
“This nostalgic trend is making a comeback for 2024 and it works well because it naturally softens features and draws attention to the eyes,” says Morey. “Side-swept bangs work well with curly hair too, adding softness and framing the face elegantly. These bangs should be styled to gently curve to one side, blending seamlessly with the rest of the hair. Use a wide-toothed comb or fingers to define curls, and finish with a lightweight, eco-friendly hairspray for hold.”
Wispy bangs
“This is a subtle bang you can see through,” says hairdresser Michael Douglas. “Minimal styling is required, but naturally straight hair is better suited to the look. The bang can be disguised into the rest of the hair or introduced depending on your mood. This is a safe option for someone wanting to try bangs for the first time.”
Baby bangs
“The baby bangs that dominated the spring/summer 2024 catwalk shows and gala events in 2023 are now beginning to filter through to the salon; usually a straight blunt cut above the eyebrows gives a great instant edge to almost any style,” says Jordan. “Many celebs have already adopted this shorter fringe; in January, Kristen Stewart sported a wispier version or look to Zendaya for her stronger, dramatic fringe at the Schiaparelli show. It’s definitely caught the imagination of our clients.”
Morey adds: “Baby bangs are bold and edgy, making a statement with curly hair. They should sit just above the eyebrows, creating a playful contrast with the natural curl pattern. To style, apply a curl-enhancing mousse or foam to damp hair, scrunching for definition.”
