It’s no secret that red hair is a trend that just keeps growing and growing and growing. Aside from the fact the term ‘copper hair’ has over 1.5 billion views on TikTok – and counting – it’s a shade that, somewhat surprisingly, has many facets.

No longer is red hair just a flat, straight-from-a-box kind of shade. Instead, it has dimension and there’s now a whole spectrum of want-to-try-them-all tones that promise to suit different skin tones and hair colours. 

While we’ve already seen the likes of copper blonde, smoked copper and true copper take centre stage, now is the time for apricot copper to step forward and have a moment of its own. Dubbed as the ideal transitional shade, experts are describing it as a tangy hue with hints of copper and lighter red shades.

Stéphane Ferraria, senior colourist at Live True London, says that apricot copper can be worn as balayage, highlights or even all-over colour. It’s ideal for people who’ve already pre-lightened their hair in some way.

“The bleached parts of your hair can take on a vivid colour to achieve an ultra-bright, juicy shade,” says Ferraria. “Or, if you want something easier to maintain, opt for balayage and then you just need to visit the salon as and when you need a refresh.”

Ferrara adds that it’s a relatively easy colour to create. “Hair tends to naturally warm up when it’s lifted, so you don’t need to treat it as much to create the perfect tone,” he says.
