The 2019 Golden Globes has given us a glimpse into what we can expect from this year’s awards season - and we’re happy to say, it looks like there’s going to be a lot of fun looks on the red carpet.
From Lady Gaga’s ice-blue bun, which was dyed to match her Valentino Couture gown, to Jodie Comer’s sharp cat-eye flick, last night’s 2019 Golden Globes ceremony saw an array of fun and intricate beauty looks. But there was one trend in particular that stuck out on the red carpet: colourful bold eye make-up.
Bold eyeshadow has been cited as one of the biggest trends for S/S19, after colourful lids emerged on the runway at shows such as Ashish, Erdem and Peter Pilotto.
As if that wasn’t a good enough reason to dig out the brightest and boldest products in your make-up collection, the Golden Globes also saw various celebrities walk the red carpet with vibrant eyes.
Here are our favourite colourful eye make-up looks from the evening…
Lupita Nyong’o
As the Stylist beauty team recently discovered in Trend On Trial, coloured mascara isn’t actually as daunting as it seems – and at the Golden Globes, Nyong’o proved just how chic it can be. Make-up artist Nick Barose outlined Nyong’o’s upper and lower lashlines with a quick scribble of Lancome’s Drama Liqui-Pencil Exteme Longwear Eyeliner in Cote D’Azur. Unfortunately, this eyeliner isn’t available in the UK, but Kiko sell a great alternative here. Barose then added blue false lashes from Lancome Monsieur Big Colour Lash Coat in 03 Blue, £9.41.
Camilla Belle
Can. We. Take. A. Moment. For. This. Look? While she hasn’t been seen on the big screen for a while, Camilla Belle was one of the most talked-about actresses following the red carpet, thanks to her stunning eyeshadow look. Created by make-up artist Hung Vanngo using Chanel’s Les 4 Ombres quad in Splendeur Et Audace, £44, the teal eyeshadow surpassed Belle’s crease and was blended far down her under eyes. The result? A colourful smoky eye that was as bold as it was beautiful.
Lili Reinhart
Riverdale star Lily Reinhart made her Golden Globes debut in a tulle red gown with matching rouge eyeshadow, because why not? Make-up artist Adam Breuchaud coloured in Reinhart’s eyelids with a wash of Blitz Flame, a metallic red from the Pat McGrath x The Met Mothership V Eye Palette, £100. Breuchaud forewent eyeliner and swiped a few layers of mascara through Reinhart’s lashes, keeping the focus on her fiery eyes.
