From Proenza Schouler to Dries Van Noten, many designers looked to Orient for their A/W collections. But it’s not only the fashion world showing Eastern promise this season –just take Revlon’s A/W Shanghai collection and campaign, starring Emma Stone.

Inspired by Global Creative Director Gucci Westman’s first trip to China and “the sets, the saturated colours and the elegance and feminity of the beauty looks” in Chinese cinema , standout pieces from the Shanghai collection include creamy metallic eyeshadows, sheer red lip lacquers and fun nail appliques. And as these behind the scenes pictures show, this romantic, and cinematic theme has been translated into the campaign, with Stone sporting a deep hue of red hair, a bold smokey eye and red lips.

Although the campaign shows bold beauty looks, Gucci said she wanted to translate the drama of Chinese cinema into something wearable for Autumn:

“When it came time to bring this collection to life, I really thought about how a western cool girl would adopt all of these influences into her beauty look… That is why I made a sheerer red lip (Red Lacquer), it’s this gorgeous tomato, a big colour for the season, with a surprising texture – it kind of gives your lips a wash of red. With the eyes, the cream to powder texture of the metallics allow you to wear these striking colours but with more transparency”
