Christian Louboutin has the beauty world in his sights. Not content with a retrospective at London’s Design Museum and a new collaboration with Disney to re-imagine Cinderella's slippers, the French shoe designer is now planning a beauty line.
Louboutin has teamed up with New York-based brand Batallure Beauty – the creative minds behind Material Girl by Madonna and the Justin Bieber fragrance - to form Christian Louboutin Beauté, with a line of luxury cosmetics due to launch late next year.
"Twenty years ago I started what I thought would be a small adventure, which ended up becoming a company," said Louboutin. "The beauty adventure is a natural extension for someone like me, who likes to empower women. To be a part of creating beauty seems like the right next step."
While final products are a long way off, we imagine a glossy red lipstick to be a key Christian Louboutin Beauté look with Dita Von Teese perhaps as the brand's spokesmodel? Watch this space.
What do you think? Are you excited about Christian Louboutin's new beauty range, or think he should just stick to making shoes? Tell us your thoughts on Twitter or in the comments section below.
