Chilling Adventures of Sabrina’s make-up artist just spilled show’s biggest beauty secrets

And if you haven’t watched the second season yet, be warned of *spoilers* ahead…
Last week, Netflix brought back Chilling Adventures of Sabrina for a second round of Satanic spells, the Weird Sisters and love triangles. While Sabrina Spellman is dabbling in the darker side of magic – think angel witch-hunters and resurrecting people from the dead – her beauty look, in particular her red lipstick, has also gone on a journey with the character.
In the first season of CAOS, Sabrina, played by Kiernan Shipka, often wore bold red lipsticks. But, as she descends into more dangerous magic, the shade of her lipstick subtly shifts into deeper and darker berry tones as each episode goes on.
Candice Stafford Bridge, head make-up artist for CAOS, told Allure that Sabrina’s go-to lipstick shade in season two is Christian Louboutin Velvet Matte Lip Colour in Very Prive, £70. “It’s the world’s most expensive lipstick,” she jokes.

In fact, the lipstick was first used during Sabrina’s Dark Baptism in the season one, episode two. “It just happens to look amazing on her,” says Stafford-Bridge, and so, she decided to keep the Louboutin lipstick as a beauty staple for Sabrina throughout season two.
But when Sabrina attends Baxter High School or is (trying to) live like a mortal, Stafford-Bridge opts for a sheer wash of colour instead.

As for the rest of Sabrina’s make-up, Stafford-Bridge was keen to keep the half-mortal, half-witch’s make-up similar to any teenager’s day-to-day look. She made sure that she never appeared too pale or too bronze to represent her two worlds.
To achieve this, she applies MAC’s Powder Blush in a lavender shade all over the face for an “other-worldly” finish. To finish her base, Stafford-Bridge sweeps a small amount of blush so that the characters look “alive, but not like they hang out in the sun”.
If, like us, you’ve already managed to binge watch the entire second season in one sitting, don’t fear. Show creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa confirmed that Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is returning for parts three and four.
“Praise Satan! I’m so grateful to my partners at Warner Bros, Netflix, Berlanti Television and Archie Productions for supporting this darker vision of the world’s most famous teen witch,” he said, “And I’m thrilled to be continuing to tell Sabrina’s Chilling Adventures with our incredible cast and crew, led by the unstoppable Kiernan Shipka.”
We can’t wait to see what they do with Sabrina’s make-up next.
