Haircut chameleon Charlize Theron has given us her boldest (and potentially best) look yet. Introducing: the bowl cut.

This summer, many celebrities decided to get the chop and opt for a refreshing bob

Charlize Theron was among the stars who debuted a shorter new do, and she looked razor sharp with a rich brunette, blunt bob at the Academy Awards 2019

Revealing his inspiration for Theron’s look, her hair stylist Adir Abergel (@hairbyadir) referenced two iconic 70s films: Michelle Pfeiffer’s sleek and beveled bob in Scarface and Julie Christie’s iconic asymmetrical bob in Shampoo

And Theron’s bold hair moves didn’t stop with the bob. The actor went on to give us even more hair envy, as she showed off an ice cool short fringe at the New York premiere of Long Shot.

Now, she’s taken an even bigger plunge by getting a bowl cut.

Yes, the Hollywood star has championed the bowl haircut that your mum used to give you as a kid in a new Instagram photo. The picture shows Theron absolutely rocking the sharp cut, complete with heavy fringe, and threaded with golden highlights. Her two silver band earrings give the look a final punch.

In the Instagram post, Theron revealed that the cut was for her role in the new Fast and Furious 9 film.

Her stylist Adir Aberge also shared a snap of the shot, captioning it: “I always feel so blessed collaborating with this insanely talented human @charlizeafrica. I was inspired by early images of Linda Evangelista shot by @therealpeterlindbergh. It took some rad people to make this one come to life.”

So, could this be the next big hair trend for autumn?

Well, one thing’s for sure: the fringe that Theron wears so well as part of the style definitely isn’t going anywhere. Constance Wu, Hilary Duff and Sophie Turner are just a handful of the celebrities with bangs who we’ve been admiring for the last few months.

It will be interesting to see if the bowl cut takes off. Just make sure you go to a hairdresser instead of getting your mum to do it, yeah?
