Bronde hair is the most low-maintenance way of going blonde this summer. Here’s everything you need to know…
If you’re thinking about updating your hair colour this summer, let us introduce you to ‘bronde.’ A low-maintanence, natural-looking blend of blonde and brunette tones, this summer hair update not only looks luxurious and expensive, but takes very little time and money to upkeep. Plus, it suits pretty much everyone. Whether you’re a blonde wanting a more natural-looking mix of high and low-lights or a brunette wanting to warm up your tone for summer, bronde hair is a great option.
Intrigued? Stylist spoke to hair stylist and trend expert Tom Smith to find out everything you need to know before going bronde…
What is the bronde hair trend?
“Bronde is the perfect fusion between blonde and brunette,” explains Smith. “It’s multi-tonal and typically on the warmer spectrum of gold caramel beige and auburn tones.”
Bronde is a great option for those with deeper hair who want to play with lightness but retain some shadows or those with blonde hair who want to test out something a little deeper without committing to full brunette. It looks incredibly natural and the mixture of light and dark tones adds texture and movement to a potentially flat brunette, while adding incredible shine and condition.
“As for celebrity inspiration, Shakira, Rita Ora, and Jennifer Lopez are all currently sitting in the bronde realm,” says Smith.
What should you ask your hairdresser for if you’re wanting to try bronde hair?
“That all depends on your starting point,” explains Smith. “If you’re starting with dark hair, ask your colourist to add a combination of blended highlights and a slightly lighter base colour to give you a softer lighter blonde result. If you’re starting blonder, toning down your look with lowlights followed by a carefully formulated gloss will give you that deeper feeling without feeling dark.”
