Want to upgrade your mani? These are the trending shades that are set to be big this summer…
It finally feels like summer has arrived meaning we’re embracing all things bright and sunny – including our nails. Yep, the nude barely-there polish has been put on the shelf and we’re opting for brighter, bolder and sunshine-filled manicures from here on out.
But if you’re struggling for nail inspiration, you’ve come to the right place. We’ve spoken to two nail experts to see what summer nail colour trends they’re seeing this season – from cool minty pastels to bright, bolder hues.
“With warmer evenings and summer holidays approaching we are starting to see more and more requests for bold and vibrant tones,” explains Juanita Huber-Millet, founder and creative director at Townhouse. “Think sunshine yellows, bright lavenders and magenta pinks – these shades will be all the rage this summer.”
Lou Stokes, UK ambassador at Orly agrees, telling Stylist: “Pastel nails are one of the biggest trends this season with cool mint green, baby pinks, lilacs and soft yellow leading the way. These can be worn as block colour on well-manicured nails or elevate your French manicure with pastel tips. Pistachio green nails are trending this season as are peach nails, which makes sense as Peach Fuzz is the Pantone colour of the year.”
If you’re in the mood for nail art, more is more this season – with 3D embellishments and crystal adornments on the rise. “Crystal adornments are here this summer to bring the glamour. Crystal designs can be as minimalistic or extravagant as you like but will definitely add sparkle to any manicure. This is an easy nail look to do from home with some pre-glued stickers which can be sealed in with your chosen top coat,” says Stokes.
If you like to keep things classic, some shades never go out of style. “Classic red nails are always a strong favourite among our clients at Townhouse,” explains Huber-Millet. “From bright bold hues to deep berry tones – red is perfect for that effortlessly chic and timeless look. Much like a red lip, it gives you a boost of confidence that makes you feel sophisticated and elegant. The shades ‘Candy’ and ‘Stiletto’ by The Gel Bottle are two of our most requested shades.”
Whether you’re in the mood for something bright and bold, colourfully pastel or chic and classic – we’re rounded up our favourite summer nail shades for 2024…
