From big-brand bestsellers to little labels and the latest launches, these are the candles we’re keeping on our radar.
Candles often conjure up an image of cosy nights spent by the fire, shielding from the wintry breeze outside. But what happens when the weather gets warmer, the nights longer and the scents lighter? Well, there’s a candle for that too; in fact, some are even more suited to summer, and there’s a whole host of options available to shop now.
What sets them apart from their wonderful winter-ready counterparts is the fragrance. Think fresh florals, such as lavender and rose, notes of citrus and some summer cocktail candles that smell as sweet as they sound.
Keep reading below to see the candles that will be filling up Team Stylist’s homes this summer.
Assouline Ibiza Bohemia Boxed Candle
Famous for its brightly coloured coffee table books, Assouline has ventured into the candle space. Each one corresponds to the popular holiday destination book titles and Ibiza Bohemia is topping our wishlist. Lemon, bergamot and green apple create a fresh scent that will evoke the feeling of being on holiday while a patchouli undertone creates calmness.

Malin+Goetz Dark Rum Candle
We’re already in love with the Malin+Goetz Dark Rum perfume, so seeing it in candle form is incredibly exciting. Dark and mysterious, it contrasts sweet vanilla with bergamot and plum, creating a scent of our favourite summer cocktail.
Jo Malone London English Pear & Freesia Home Candle
Few fragrance brands are as famous as Jo Malone, and English Pear & Freesia is one of the bestselling scents. It’s instantly recognisable, sending out sweet-smelling whiffs of fruit and woodlands.

Akt The Lantern Candle
Named Orange Grove, this sweet scent includes different flavours of the summery fruit. Sliced orange and sweet mandarin are designed to be the first scents you smell, followed by bigger negroni, neroli blossom and Italian cypress – yum.
Helm London Fresh Linen Luxury Candle
Few smells are as satisfying as fresh linen, so this candle is sure to be a fan favourite. Handmade from small-batch London-based brand Helm London, it’s also a great way to support smaller brands.
Boy Smells Rinder Candle
With notes of watermelon, this is an incredibly summery scent balanced out by spicy patchouli, orris and cedar. Part of the new Farm to Candle range by Boy Smells, it’s created from a blend of coconut and beeswax and topped with a cotton wick.
DS & Durga Tuberose Myrrhder Candle
Adding a spiritual spin to candles, this DS & Durga option adds a lot of deep flavours. Tuberose and spiced myrrh sit as the main scents while cacao, currant and Madagascan vanilla support in creating an earthy floral fragrance.
Byredo Summer Rain
Living in the UK, we’re very familiar to the sweet, humid smell of summer rain and Byredo have built it into a candle with a cool grass-like scent with a slightly spicy ginger undertone.
Sunspel Green Cedar Candle
Said to evoke English springtime, this candle creates a citrusy aroma with lavender, thyme and wild angelica. London perfumer Lyn Harris helped develop this specific scent, which is light yet long-lasting.
