Beauty brands that nail ‘nude’ lipstick

We’ve cherry-picked the make-up brands that offer the most flattering nudes to suit all skin tones.

Rewind to a few years ago and finding the perfect nude lipstick was a difficult (and frustrating) challenge. It was particularly difficult for those with darker skin tones, as “nude lipstick” only seemed to cover light pinks and beige tones. Thankfully, the nude lip has drastically increased in popularity (thanks, Meghan Markle) and as a result, more beauty brands are releasing lipstick ranges that cover an array of shades to suit all skin tones.

From pale pinks perfect for rosy complexions to rich deep browns that pair up beautifully with deeper skin, here are several brands that give good nude…

Charlotte Tilbury

The godmother of red carpet make-up has an impressive array of nudes among her collection – and best of all, each shade is swatched on a number of different models so you can get an idea of how it will look on your skin tone.

We’re big fans of Hot Lips Kim K.W., inspired by Mrs Kardashian-West, a creamy pink-beige that perks up a tired complexion and is packed with nourishing waxes and protective antioxidants.

If a glossy texture isn’t your thing, try Tilbury’s Matte Revolution lipstick in sell-out shade Pillow Talk.

£24 each, charlottetilbury.com

Lipstick Queen

This line’s lippie-obsessed founder Poppy King has created a special Nothing But The Nudes collection, designed for those after the perfect nude shade that’s right for them (as opposed to looking like you’ve kissed a bag of flour…) Choose from The Truth (pink), The Whole Truth (peach) and (you’ve guessed it) Nothing But The Truth (caramel), with a shimmering texture packed with skin-loving ingredients to keep your lips happy.

£22 each, spacenk.com

bareMinerals

The popular mineral make-up range have recognised that nude lipstick isn’t a ‘one-shade-fits-all’ affair, with their Gen Nude Radiant Lipsticks range offering an impressive 18 hues to choose from. The formula glides on like a dream and delivers medium coverage – giving you a pretty touch of polish in a shade to suit your skin tone, such as Controversy (butterscotch), Tutu (deep mauve) and Baby (pale pink).

£18 each, bareminerals.co.uk

Sleek MakeUP

When it comes to smudge-proof lipstick under a fiver, Sleek’s Matte Me is one of the most impressive formulas we’ve tried, holding its own with some of the more sophisticated liquid lippies on the market. Drying to a creamy matte finish, it lasts a good few hours (and cocktails) and doesn’t leave lips feeling dry or tight as some matte formulas are wont to do. Stock up on their best-selling nude hue Birthday Suit (a gorgeous rosy beige), or the peach-perfect Feels or the chocolate charming Cinnamon Spice.

£4.99, sleekmakeup.com

MAC

Offering a cornucopia of hues, MAC’s Matte Lipstick range includes a number of nudes, from butterscotch hues (Crème d’Nude, Japanese Maple and Peachstock), to pretty pink (Please Me, Steady Going and Ravishing) to latte-beige (Hug Me, Touch and Velvet Teddy). We defy you not to find your signature nude out of this lot. The creamy texture and colour payoff are top notch too.

£16.50, lookfantastic.com
