Hate your fragrance disappearing seconds after you spritz? These perfumes are tried and tested to last.
I’m not a fussy customer when it comes to perfumes. I have florals, woody scents, ouds – you name it, it’s on my shelf. However, finding a fragrance that doesn’t disappear a few minutes after spritzing is where it gets complicated.
Despite many perfumes claiming to be long-lasting, promising to take you from dawn till dusk, the reality is that very few do. With fragrance prices getting increasingly expensive, it seems counterproductive to invest in perfumes that disappear by the time you’ve arrived at the office.
Typically, eaux de parfum are going to latch on the longest as the formulas usually have the highest concentration of fragrance oils. However, my experience has proven the longest-lasting fragrances aren’t always the heady, rich scents – there are some florals that can pack a punch and even some lighter eau de toilette concoctions that do the trick.
This is why I’ve rounded up the best long-lasting perfumes that stick around long after you’ve sprayed them. From the velvety musks to the soft florals, these are the long-lasting fragrances to invest in.
Best long-lasting perfumes
Fenty Eau de Parfum
Rihanna is renowned for smelling good, so it’s no surprise this rich floral lingers on my clothes well after the first spritz. The rich floral contains plush Bulgarian rose absolute and skin-like musks and mixes them with zesty tangerine and creamy magnolia.
Tom Ford Velvet Orchid Eau de Parfum Spray
My go-to date night fragrance, this will last wherever the night takes you. It’s slightly medicinal with a liquorice-y twist, featuring dark rum, sweet honey, bergamot and velvet orchid. Like velvet, its first impression is rich but softens on the skin to leave you smelling expensive.

Maison Margiela Replica Jazz Club Eau De Toilette
As the name suggests, this aims to imitate the headiness and warmth of a trendy jazz club, with cocktail and tobacco notes and sharp vetiver.
Despite it being (in theory) a lighter eau de toilette formulation, this is anything but airy and fresh. Because of this, it’s always the scent I spritz before I travel as it lasts the entire length of the flight (I’ve landed in Australia still smelling of this) and has a cosiness about it.

Le Labo Labdanum 18 Eau de Parfum
This is a comfort blanket in a bottle. It smells vintage-y, thanks to warm amber notes, vanilla, musk and resin. It becomes slightly powdery on the skin as time goes by, but it still manages to pack a punch. It can be found lingering on shirts days after I’ve worn them.
Charlotte Tilbury Collection of Emotions More Sex
I can confirm that this rich cocktail of leather, musk, creamy sandalwood and fiery pink pepper does not skimp when it comes to longevity and strikes the perfect balance between masculine and feminine.

Van Cleef & Arpels Moonlight Rose Eau de Parfum
Stylist’s beauty director, Hanna Ibraheem, picked this rosy number for her wedding day because of its long-lasting powers. The floral heart dries down to a spicy but sweet aroma that’s laced with green moss, sweet honey and fragrant patchouli.
Shop Van Cleef & Arpels Moonlight Rose Eau de Parfum at John Lewis, £153
Parfums De Marly Carlisle Eau de Parfum
If you’re looking for a fragrance that embodies luxury, look no further. Warm sandalwood is blended with creamy vanilla, rich tonka bean and fresh green apple for a twist, making a scent that’s anything but subtle. If it was a cocktail, it would be a bourbon on the rocks – dark, smoky and smooth.
Shop Parfums De Marly Carlisle Eau de Parfum at Harvey Nichols, £315
Victoria Beckham Suite 302 Eau de Parfum
This oh-so-chic scent inspired by Beckham’s late-night escapades in Paris contains syrupy black cherry, smoky leather and earthy tobacco, which then lightens to become more of a skin scent as you wear it, thanks to floral rose and velvety midnight violet. Not only does this perfume transform as you wear it, but it lasts until dusk too.
Shop Victoria Beckham Suite 302 Eau de Parfum at Selfridges, £170
