“I’m not ashamed:” Ariel Winter proudly reveals her breast reduction scars at the SAG Awards

It’s disconcerting when an awards ceremony becomes more talked about for the breasts of the female attendees, than anything else – but, sadly, that was the case with this weekend’s Screen Actor’s Guild Awards.
But there’s a positive side to the boob news, as well.
Ariel Winter, star of The Modern Family, took to the red carpet on Saturday night in a backless black Romona Keveza gown that revealed the scars from her breast reduction surgery.
Winter, 18, went under the knife last summer, having suffered with back and neck pain due to the size of her breasts – which she had reduced from a 32F to a 34D.
In an interview with People magazine, she says:
“I think it will be the only [cosmetic surgery] I'll have done, but I'm extremely happy with the decision I made.”
“It's important to talk about it because there are young girls suffering like I did, but there shouldn't be a stigma about it.”

Winter also says that she often suffered from online abuse surrounding the size of her breasts, every time she went on the red carpet.
Winter explains to Glamour magazine that, before the surgery: “my neck was hurting so bad and I actually had some problems with my spine.”
After the surgery, she says that it was “amazing to finally feel right.”
When Winter’s scars were visible in her SAG Awards gown, she took to Twitter to explain, saying:
“Guys, there is a reason I didn't make an effort to cover up my scars! They are part of me and I'm not ashamed of them at all.”
It's not the first time Winter has stood-up to online abuse.
We applaud her for so proudly showing her scars and not hiding her true self away.
