Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has made no secret of her love for beauty. She’s discussed her skincare routine at length (and revealed she swears by daily sunscreen, our kind of woman), has made red lipstick part of her signature look and also expressed her love for press-on nails during a 1am mani session.

Now, the Congresswoman is trying her hand at false lashes – though Ocasio-Cortez found it harder than she thought it would be.

Posting a picture of her false lashes on Instagram Stories, she wrote, “I am trying to practice my glow up skills and am on the struggle bus big time”.

Shuga Cain, who appeared in season 11 of RuPaul’s Drag Race, re-posted Ocasio-Cortez’s picture on Twitter and addressed the Congresswoman directly: “@AOC how about we do a glam session together? I’ll teach you some of my tricks!”

AOC responded, “I’d love that!”, leaving Shuga Cain to say she would DM Ocasio-Cortez to set up a beauty date. The exchange was enough to leave fans excited.

This isn’t the first time AOC has connected with a Drag Race alumni. In May, fan-favourite Nina West was sent home in a shocking elimination, putting her in sixth place. Ocasio-Cortez took to Instagram, where she posted a series of videos expressing her disappointment.

In the videos, she said, “I don’t always get to watch Drag Race on Thursdays when it comes out, I have to catch up on the weekends because work is insane, and I just caught up and I am so sad.”

Addressing Nina West directly, she added, “No spoilers, but to the queen that went home this week, just know how important you are to the bigger picture, and I’m so proud of you and your fundamental kindness and goodness.

“I’m really looking forward to watching you grow. You’re amazing and I’m sad, but I’m excited for you.”

Maybe Ocasio-Cortez could take a place on the judging table alongside RuPaul and Michelle Visage for the upcoming series of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK?

There’s no doubt it would be sickening.
