Rihanna handpicked the perfect celebrity to become Fenty Beauty’s first ever brand ambassador.

Fenty Beauty is still as exciting as when it launched two years ago. Rihanna recently filed a trademark for “Fenty Skin”, unveiled pastel and neon eyeliners and lipsticks, expanded her complexion range and, most recently, made the products more accessible to people in the UK by bringing them to Boots.

But one of the most exciting things about the brand is its devotion to being a make-up line that has championed inclusivity since its inception. From her ground-breaking foundation launch, which left customers rushing to get their hands on one of the extensive 40 shades, to releasing eight bronzers, a high number for a bronzer launch; Rihanna has taken steps to make her products available to everybody.

Now, Fenty has appointed actor and activist Amandla Stenberg as the first-ever brand ambassador.

Stenberg’s career came into the spotlight when she got a role in The Hunger Games as Rue, a young companion to Jennifer Lawrence’s character Katniss in the arena. Since then, she’s gone on to star in Everything, Everything, The Darkest Minds and The Hate U Give, a film about a high school student who witnesses an unarmed black friend killed at the hands of a police officer.

Alongside her acting career, Stenberg uses her platform to ignite conversations about cultural appropriation, gender, sexual identity and intersectional feminism. Last year, she was named one of Time Magazine’s Next Generation Leaders for being “an activist, political pioneer and leading voice of her generation”.

As Fenty set out to be a brand that helps “everyone feel beautiful and recognised, no matter their race, ethnicity, culture or personal style”, it’s the perfect partnership.

Talking about her new role, Stenberg said in a statement, “I wanted to become a part of the Fenty Family because it’s one of the few beauty brands that make me feel like myself! Fenty Beauty’s whole ethos makes me feel empowered and excited to let different facets of myself shine!”

We can’t wait to see what comes next from Rihanna and Stenberg.
